A familiar old bug is back, or rather never left, but in Season 9 it’s particularly painful.
A Nightmare Indeed
Back at the start of Diablo 4, one bug was at the very top of player irritation. Un-killable/invisible mobs that were for completing a dungeon objective. This bug has persisted through all seasons so far, but it has been significantly diminished. Some dungeons had their kill requirements drastically lowered, and mob spawns in general were improved. But it seems it’s not quite completely gone, and with the Season 9 theme, getting it is worse than ever.
Schinkelol ran into this exact issue in Uldur’s Cave, as the goal of slaying ALL enemies proved to be the biggest challenge in the game. One of the bandits spawned outside the map, and was entirely un-killable. No amount of spell-spamming near him helped either. Now take into consideration this was the third aka last of a trio of Escalating Nightmare Dungeons and you see the enhanced problem. One lost NMD is annoying, sure, but getting all the way to the end of a series of them, ready to fight Astaroth, and then just getting entirely stuck is pretty unacceptable.
An Easy and Much Needed Fix
Blizzard needs to address this sooner rather than later. With NMDs being the focus of the season, things like this can’t stick around for long. Sure, the bug has persisted from the game’s launch, and we’ll probably never be rid of mobs spawning outside the map, but the solution here is much simpler, and already applied to many other dungeons. The kill requirement simply can’t ever be 100%. Basically, any mount lower than that should be fine, but 90% should be the safest while still requiring most kills done.
Of course, Schinkelol isn’t the only one running into this issue, with plenty of players chiming in with their similar experiences in the thread. Unfortunately if this does end up happening to you, you can’t do much about it. And if it happens on the final escalating dungeon, well, you can scream a little. They are nightmares after all.
Hopefully Blizzard fixed this one quick, with a simple lowering of the requirements.
