Diablo 4 players are running into something that feels almost too on-brand for this game. A new thread on Reddit claims that if you complete a run with exactly 666 Aether, you can summon Bartuc, Lord of Chaos, for free. Meaning you will keep your Aether after the fight.
Normally, Bartuc costs 666 Aether to summon. That number alone is already a fun nod to the devil’s number, but things get even spicier if this trick actually works as described.
Bug or Hidden Easter Egg?
It is not clear if this is a real easter egg or just a bug, but the idea of summoning a Lord of Hell for free, when you have exactly 666 Aether, feels almost too perfect. Players are already joking that it has to be intentional.
Why Bartuc Is Worth the Aether
Bartuc is already a good choice for farming compared to the Council this season:
- At Tier 3 and above, he is supposed to drop at least one piece of Chaos Armor.
- Council fights can drop the same loot, but it is far less consistent.
- Since the equipment chest costs 400 Aether, farming 1066 Aether lets you do Bartuc and the chest in the same run.
That makes him a priority target for players looking to squeeze the most value out of their Aether.

Regarding the boss fight in general: Reports are mixed right now. Players say Bartuc always drops Chaos Armor at T3, but a few commenters point out that their runs came up empty.
And on the topic of bugs: There have been players who mentioned that Town Portaling mid-fight might cause loot to bug out.
But the 666 trick? That one has got players grinning. Intentional or not, it feels right at home in Diablo.
