The Diablo 4 Season 11 PTR has been getting quite some feedback compared to the previous seasons, but not in the way Blizzard hoped. On top of all the complaints around crafting changes, players who tested the new Tower mode say it is a bit falling flat, describing it as a reskinned version of The Pit with fewer rewards.
Across Reddit and other social media, players are calling the mode “the same activity three times over,” pointing out that it plays almost identically to existing content. You race through floors, activate pylons, kill mobs, and repeat. Many feel the only difference is it is called another name.
You can find many posts similar to this one, where players share their feedback:
Leaderboards Over Loot
One of the main complaints is that The Tower adds yet another leaderboard-focused system with minimal loot or progression incentives. Yes, players want leaderboards, but meaningful ones. In the end, the Tower is just the exact same as the Gauntlet was, with the same problems:
“It’s just another time trial,” one player wrote. “No reason to push it once you’ve cleared it once.”
Others added that the leaderboard also points out the eternal balance problems the game has. The same class is always doing the best, and the same one is always slacking behind. With a Leaderboard based only on speed, it is not really exciting for most players to participate in.
Some Silver Linings
Not all feedback was negative! Several players like the stability and nice visual of the mode, pointing out the fact that it runs smoother than other content. Some also said it could become a fun, quick challenge if Blizzard adds better rewards or different mechanics to each floor to make it a little bit more exciting.
If reaching the top 100 on the leaderboard would reward players with an exclusive cosmetic, it would already feel better for a lot of people. Some people proposed milestones such as top 5000 get a little pet, top 500 get a mount, top 100 a cool skin you can use on all classes, something like that. It gives players a sense of progression, and a very good reason to actually try to get better.
What Happens Now
It is important to keep in mind that the current Tower and Leaderboard are only under beta, and that it will also still be in beta during Season 11. This means that now is the right time to give your feedback to Blizzard, as they are still trying to figure out the direction to take with this system!
We will most likely see various adjustments being made until the mode officially releases in its final form!
