With the final Dawntrail patch on the horizon, there’s only a little while left to complete the tier before Party Finder starts focusing on the new ultimate in FFXIV.
Pre-Pull
For this fight, you will need light parties and standard clock spots. Both are used for Trophy Weapons, with parties splitting for the sword, and clock spots used for the scythe. Further along in the fight, you will use light parties for your initial platforms during Majestic Meteor.
Waymarkers
Waymarkers in this fight are highly important for resolving Majestic Meteor. Ensure you have the proper setup, otherwise players may die to mispositioning in the mechanic. You can find the code for this waymarker setup on our raid guide.

Most Challenging Mechanics
The first third of the fight is mainly rinse and repeat, focusing on variations of Trophy Weapons. The real challenge comes after the Tyrant empowers himself.
ORBITAL OMEN
While Orbital Omen isn’t the most punishing mechanic if you screw up, it can give you a nasty damage-down debuff. Lower damage output, higher risk of failing the DPS check.
In short, four sets of portals will appear, two at a time. After the second set appear, the boss will lock in place and cast Fire and Fury, firing wide protean-style cleaves north and south relative to where he’s facing.
As he does this, the portals will also shoot line AOEs in order of their appearance.

The standard PF way to solve this is to wait until the second set of intersecting lines from the portals appear. All players will position close to these lines, while positioning close to E/W to avoid the cleaves from fire and fury. This dodge is all about timing. As soon as the cast bar for Fire and Fury completes, move diagonally across the boss’s hitbox to dodge the second set of AOES. After the second set goes off, move back to your starting position. No matter the order of AOEs to appear, this dodge will always be safe.
MAJESTIC METEOR: WATCH THOSE WAYMARKERS!
As mentioned earlier, having the correct waymarkers for Majestic Meteor is crucial for resolving the mechanic correctly. After splitting east and west sides of the arena in light parties, four random players will receive tethers. These players may need to launch themselves across the arena via towers to stretch out their tethers as far as possible. Position yourselves accordingly in your towers!
After towers, non-tethers need to move close to the boss to bait line AOEs that come directly from the boss. Afterwards, players then bait puddle AOEs while moving in an L-shape towards the outer waymarkers.
Here is the crucial step: pay attention to the vertical (north/south) lines coming from the portals. Those lines will shoot out massive cleaves you will need to avoid. If the lines are more in, line up with the outer corner of the waymarker (furthest from the center of the arena). If the lines are more out, go to the inner corner, but make sure it’s still the one farther north/south from the boss. Following this will have the line AOEs resolve safely every time. Be wary, as the second set of tethers will occur during one minute bursts.

ECLIPTIC STAMPEDE: FIXED POSITIONS
The most complicated (and important) mechanic in this fight is undoubtedly Ecliptic Stampede. Failing this mechanic will normally result in multiple deaths, and making a clear impossible without high item-level gear. Make sure to read Icy Veins’ M11S guide for full details. And if you plan on diving into PF, make sure you’re following the Fixed Positions strategy.
This involves learning a different priority for who takes what tower after puddles fall, but the key difference is that ranged players paired with melees are always closer to the center of the towers. This ensures portal tethers always snap onto the ranged players, allowing melees to keep uptime. After tethers, four-way fireball is resolved the same, and two-way fireball is always baited by the melees standing closest to the boss.
