Genshin Impact just introduced weapon skins, but if you were hoping to collect them forever, there is a catch: these cosmetics are temporary and will expire at the end of the patch.
If you want them, you will need to act fast. The only way to unlock them is through Stygian Onslaught, a high-difficulty endgame mode added in the latest update.

Unlike other cosmetic items, weapon skins in Genshin Impact are not permanent. Even after you unlock them, they will disappear once the patch ends. Players will lose access to the skins, and we don’t know yet if they will return or rotate in future updates. We also don’t know if they will become permanent in the future.
This means there is a limited window to earn and enjoy them, and no guarantee they will come back.

Stygian VI is harder than Abyss Floor 12, so these limited-time skins serve as a flex for endgame players, not a must-have for everyone. By making them expire, the devs reduce long-term fear of missing out (FOMO) while rewarding those who go the extra mile during the patch.
