What is the Stygian Onslaught?

Stygian Onslaught is an endgame mode available in Genshin Impact facing you off against 3 different bosses with a total of 6 difficulties. Play solo or in Co-Op to earn rewards such as Primogems, Dust of Enlightenment and even farm artifacts.

1.1.

How to Unlock Stygian Onslaught?

To unlock Stygian Onslaught, players must be at least Adventure Rank 20 or above and have completed the Archon Quest Prologue: Act III "Song of the Dragon and Freedom" however for the best experience the Archon Quest "Perilous Trail" is also advised.

Players also need to be Adventure Rank 45 or above to be able to utilise the Disturbance Outbreak to farm artifacts from Difficulty Hard or higher.

Stygian Onslaught Current Duration

  • Event Duration: 2025/06/25 10:00 ~ 2025/07/29 03:59
  • Disturbance Outbreak: 2025/06/25 10:00 ~ 2025/07/05 03:59

Stygian Onslaught unlocks the Wednesday of the week after the patch launches, giving players time to familiarize themselves with new characters and updates. Stygian Onslaught then lasts for the next 5 weeks until the end of the patch. The Disturbance Outbreak phase on the other hand only lasts 10 days.

2.1.

Disturbance Outbreak

During the first 10 days of Stygian Onslaught, a special window called the Disturbance Outbreak phase is active. If you're Adventure Rank 45 or higher, you can take on stages from the Hard difficulty and up, and more importantly, you’ll be able to use Resin to obtain artifacts from any set you choose. This is the perfect time to farm artifacts for specific characters.

This period also allows you to accumulate Dire Prestige granting you extra rewards.

Genshin Impact Dire Prestige

Once the first 10 days are over, you'll no longer be able to spend Resin or farm artifacts through this mode, so make sure to take full advantage of the limited-time benefits while they last!

Stygian Onslaught Gameplay Mechanics

3.1.

Difficulty Modes

Stygian Onslaught features a range of difficulties ranging from Normal, to Dire. As the difficulty increases, as do the Ley Line Disturbances and fight difficulty. From the Menacing difficulty, players cannot re-use the same character on different bosses.

Difficulty Enemy Level Ley Line Disturbances
Normal I 40 None
Advancing II 70 None
Hard III 90
  • During the Disturbance Outbreak, you can complete battles to claim special rewards
Menacing IV 100
  • Affected by the Ley Line Disturbance, characters cannot be deployed multiple times
  • During the Disturbance Outbreak, you can complete battles to claim special rewards
Fearless V 105
  • Opponents are affected by the Ley Line Disturbance and are greatly enhanced
  • Affected by the Ley Line Disturbance, characters cannot be deployed multiple times
  • During the Disturbance Outbreak, you can complete battles to claim special rewards
Dire VI 110
  • A powerful opponent has re-emerged from the Ley Lines, and the battle is sure to be very difficult
  • Affected by the Ley Line Disturbance, characters cannot be deployed multiple times
  • You have reached the final defensive line of the Domain. The level of disturbance here is at its highest, interfering with even the Exalted Ones and rendering their Eminent Boons ineffective. After completing the current challenge in Single-Player Mode, characters in your party will be granted Eminence or Enduring Eminence based on your performance.
  • During the Disturbance Outbreak, you can complete battles to claim special rewards

Each difficulty is unlocked by clearing the previous stages however to unlock Dire, Fearless must be completed solo. Don't worry though, Fearless still has access to Exalted Ones and their effects! Furthermore, these 2 hardest difficulties also have Weapon Skins as additional rewards.

3.2.

Exalted Ones and Eminence

Clearing Dire VI will grant all current party members the Eminence effect, while any characters who have able to clear the Perilous Objectives too will be granted Enduring Eminence.

Exalted Ones are characters available from other players. Players who have completed Dire difficulty will have the characters used to complete the battles become Exalted Ones. This updates 2 hours after Stygian releases and then once a day.

Genshin Impact Exalted Ones

Up to 16 characters from the entire server with the most Eminence will be available as Exalted Ones and for difficulties 1-5 any player that uses these characters will recieve buffs to your ATK, DEF and HP if you own that character. If you do not own that character, it will not give you access to them. Utilising Exalted Ones should make it easier to clear higher difficulties.

3.3.

Co-Op in Stygian Onslaught

Stygian Onslaught supports Co-Op play for up to four players, letting you tackle its stages alongside friends or other players. For the lower-tier difficulties of Normal I, Advancing II, and Hard III you can either use standard matchmaking or group up with others in the same world to complete challenges together.

However, once you move into the higher-end difficulties of Menacing IV, Fearless V, and Dire VI things become more restricted. These tiers only support Co-Op challenges if all players are in the same world, meaning you'll need to coordinate with friends or teammates directly rather than rely on matchmaking. This limitation ensures a smoother experience at higher difficulties but requires a bit more planning if you want to tackle the toughest content as a group.

Furthermore, not all rewards at the highest difficulties are available in Co-Op so keep that in mind.

3.4.

Spending Resin to Farm Artifacts

Did you know you can farm artifacts inside of Stygian Assault? From difficulty 3 onwards, players can spend resin to earn artifacts with it also contributing towards your Dire Prestige.

Dire Prestige is a unique mechanic specifically for Stygian Onslaught tied to how much resin you spend during a Disturbance Outbreak. 1 resin spent = 1 Dire Prestige. Every 120 Dire Prestige grants you an extra 5-Star artifact making it insanely efficient for artifact farming.

Genshin Impact Bonus Artifacts in Stygian Onslaught
Resin Type Dire Prestige
Original Resin 20
Condensed Resin 40
Fragile Resin/ Transient Resin 60

Furthermore, each patch if you spend at least 1,200 resin, you will gain an additional Dust of Enlightenment. Dusts are an incredibly valuable item so always make sure to spend resin here!

Weapon Skins

Weapon Skins are available from Stygian Onslaught for clearing the highest difficulties available. There are 2 types of weapon skins with one being a 5-Star and another being a 4-Star:

  • 4-Star: Obtained for clearing difficulty VI in general.
  • 5-Star: Obtained for clearing difficulty VI in 180s total from all 3 bosses. Grants an extra glow.

There is a skin available for each weapon alongside colour variants for each of the 7 elements providing a wide variety of options.

These skins are also not permanent and will expire at the end of the patch, likely to alleviate FOMO. It is unknown if the same skins will be available next patch or if they will rotate through a selection of skins.
