The hype around Genshin Impact Version Luna VII and the reveal of the Traveler wearing a new skin and wielding a gun for Snezhnaya did not last very long.

Just a couple of days after the Special Program went live, a big part of the community had completely changed from discussing the new content to arguing about rewards, banners, and the game’s overall direction. The biggest issue right now is the estimated amount of pulls you can get during the next patch.

According to the current early calculations, free-to-play players may end up with just about 60 pulls during Luna VII. Under normal circumstances, that would already be considered low by many of us, but the situation got worse once people realized that both Nicole and Lohen are only limited banner characters.

A lot of players originally expected Lohen to join the standard banner, but when that turned out not to be the case, everyone was just left frustrated.

Players Feel Genshin Is Becoming Less Generous

What made players reach the breaking point this time is also the fact that older patches just felt more rewarding. For those who have been playing for a long time, they feel like it has just been getting worse during the last patches. What they are asking for is enough pulls to at least reasonably reach pity once per version update, especially when multiple limited new banners are running at the same time.

Some people also argue that the game now pushes constellations, supports that you have to play with your new DPS for it to work, and even signature weapons harder than before, making low pull income feel even worse.

The comparisons with HoYoverse’s other games are also impossible to ignore at this point. People regularly point out that Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero tend to gift way more rewards each patch, despite Genshin still being the company’s biggest money maker.

Review Bombing and Community Drama Return Again

As expected, the backlash has already turned messy. Some players started review bombing the game again, and others accused official Discord moderators of deleting messages or banning users complaining about rewards. There were also claims online that negative reviews were disappearing from app stores, although there is no proof that reviews were specifically removed because of criticism toward the patch.

At the same time, not everybody agrees either. Some people think that players are overreacting as always, and forgetting that Genshin is still a free live-service game with big development costs behind it. But compared to before, it seems like this time, Genshin really pushed things too far, and not like the usual small, unnecessary drama around the game.

Luna VII May Have Hit a Breaking Point

What makes this situation feel different is that the complaints are no longer only about pulls. Over the past months, many have repeatedly asked for more quality-of-life updates, improvements to endgame content, and features like a proper skip button. Because of that, Luna VII feels less like an isolated drama and more like accumulated frustration finally boiling over.

HoYoverse has not responded to the backlash so far, but the reaction around Luna VII clearly shows that it is becoming harder and harder for developers to ignore the recurring problems around the game.
