Just one day before launch, 007 First Light revealed a pretty unexpected addition to its cast. Internet superstar Khaby Lame will officially appear in the game as part of Bond’s globe-trotting adventure. If the name does not tell you anything, you might still know who Khaby Lame is through his simple yet very funny TikToks. With over 160 million subscribers, Khaby Lame used to debunk absurd “life hacks” by demonstrating the obvious answer with a very simple hand gesture.
The announcement was shared directly by the developers alongside a short teaser saying, “You will meet a familiar face in Vietnam.”
The studio did not reveal exactly how large his role will be, but the teaser confirms you will encounter Khaby during one of the game’s international missions as James Bond attempts to “Earn The Number” to become 007.
Early Access Starts Today
As a reminder, 007 First Light officially launches tomorrow, but those who pre-ordered already gained access today through the game’s 24-hour early access period.
The timing of the Khaby Lame reveal is clearly meant to build a bit more launch-day momentum and hype as the game finally goes live worldwide.
A Different Kind of Bond Game
So far, IO Interactive has been making sure that 007 First Light was not simply another traditional Bond adaptation. Instead, the game focuses on a younger James Bond before becoming the iconic 007 agent, with a lot of focus on espionage, infiltration, travel, and narrative-driven missions.
And apparently now, celebrity cameos too.
With the launch finally here, it will be interesting to see if Khaby Lame’s appearance ends up being a small easter egg or a surprisingly important part of Bond’s journey.
