Ubisoft has officially revealed that Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ first expansion, Claws of Awaji, releases worldwide on September 16. But before you can hop on a boat and explore the mysterious island, there is a catch! You will need to finish specific quests from the main story.
How to Unlock the DLC
To access Claws of Awaji, you must complete the main arcs for Naoe and Yasuke, plus Junjiro’s personal quests. Once you completed those, the quest “Out of the Shadows” unlocks. Only after finishing that storyline will the new content become available.
Once that is done, look for Hanzo’s contact in your Hideout at Settsu. That is where your new journey begins.
Fast-Tracking Requirements
If you are not caught up yet, the fastest way is to focus on:
- Completing both Naoe and Yasuke’s personal quests
- Finishing Junjiro’s League quests
- Taking down the Shinbakufu and Templar board targets
- Wrapping up Tomiko’s League Quest to complete “Out of the Shadows”
That clears the path to the DLC without any extra grinding.
Global Release Times
The expansion releases simultaneously worldwide, with launch times ranging from 5 a.m PT (Los Angeles), 2 p.m CEST (Paris), to 9 p.m JST (Tokyo). Ubisoft shared a full map with every region’s release hours, however it is not very readable. But here you go in case you want to take a look:
Price and Platforms
If you did not pre-order the game, the DLC will cost $25 / €25 across all platforms. Mac players may need to relaunch the game once online for the content to appear.
