Elden Ring Nightrein DLC Brings Back Artorias and More

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard anything major about Elden Ring Nightrein. Since launch, we’ve seen a few solid updates — Duo Mode, the massive Deep of Night patch — but this time, FromSoftware is back with something even bigger: The Forsaken Hollows, Nightrein’s first full DLC.

The Forsaken Hollows

Nightfarers, rejoice — it’s time to step back into the dark. The Forsaken Hollows brings plenty of new content, including two Day Three Bosses, two additional Nightfarers, an expanded Shifting Earth zone, and more. From the trailer, it looks like FromSoft is pulling inspiration not just from Nightrein itself, but also from older Souls titles and even Shadow of the Erdtree.

Players will once again face Artorias the Abysswalker — yes, that Artorias — alongside familiar nightmares like the Dancing Lion from Erdtree. The new Shifting Earth area seems to be a magic-infused wasteland, with datamining hinting at “crystals that exude a cursed, life-draining miasma.”

Sharp-eyed fans also noticed plenty of callbacks throughout the trailer: a sleeping wooden giant carved with spirals, possibly a nod to the giants from Dark Souls II — or maybe something entirely new born from Madness itself.

New Nightfarers & Day 3 Bosses

Beyond the zones and bosses, the community is already buzzing about the two new Nightfarers. The Scholar appears to be a dex-based caster, blending light magic with agile melee. The Undertaker, on the other hand, looks like a brute — all raw strength and heavy-hitting chaos. It’s still unclear whether that massive ground-slam we saw was an innate ability or a new Ash of War.

As for the Day Three bosses, we’re getting two new encounters. One seems to feature a squad of knights, maybe inspired by the multi-boss fights of the past — think Burnt Ivory King vibes. The other appears fully consumed by Scarlet Rot, which might finally mean we’re getting another proper poison swamp.
