Helldivers 2 has broken its own playercount record following its release on Xbox. Published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, the game launched exclusively on PlayStation 5 and PC in February 2024. It was nothing short of miraculous for the game to be ported to Xbox due to being a Sony exclusive, but it did, and then Helldivers 2 launched on Xbox with crossplay enabled on August 26, 2025.
Following its release on Xbox, the player count jumped to 500,000 concurrent players, the highest Helldivers 2 has ever seen. The peak player count was announced with a post on Helldiver 2’s official Discord server. Note that the number doesn’t represent Xbox players alone; it states all the players concurrently active on the game on all platforms.
Previously, the game’s maximum peak player count was around 458,000 on Steam, which was shortly after its explosive release in February 2024, as seen on SteamDB.
Helldivers 2 On Xbox Releases To Massive Success
Helldivers 2’s Xbox release was accompanied by a collaboration with Halo ODST Crossover Warbond, which added some new Halo 3: ODST featured gear into the game. Following the release on Xbox, many players have been returning to the game on PC as well.
The player count had jumped to a peak of 157,330 on Steam after the title released on Xbox alongside the Halo ODST collaboration. This spike was significant compared to the number of daily players, which often averages around 30,000 to 40,000 concurrent players.
A Reddit user, u/SilentNova300, shared the screenshot showing 389,092 combined active players in the game on all platforms. SilentNova300’s post came shortly after the Xbox release of the title. After some time, it was announced on the game’s official Discord server that over 500,000 concurrent players were playing Helldivers 2, the highest number it has ever reached.
Helldivers 2 has also seen its fair share of hardships following its launch last year. There were many controversies, such as the player count quickly diminishing, and many players leaving negative reviews on Steam due to Helldivers 2 not being available to download in some regions.
Despite the hardships and controversies, Helldiver 2’s recent success shows that the game still has what it takes.
