New Resident Evil Requiem Trailer Confirms Switch 2 Debut

During the recent Nintendo Direct, Capcom released another new trailer for Resident Evil Requiem. This new trailer also confirms that RE9 will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on February 27, 2026, the same day it comes out on Steam, PlayStation 5 & Xbox Series X|S.

The Story of RE9 So Far

This new trailer does recall a few instances fans have already seen through previous trailers and a brief gameplay showcase. We know that the protagonist of Resident Evil Requiem is FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft, whose current assignment is solving a series of strange murders inside the Wrenwood Hotel. Coincidentally, she finds herself investigating the same hotel where someone murdered her mother eight years ago.

We catch a brief glimpse of the night her mother went missing, along with a new monster stalking the hotel halls. Initially, fans speculated that this monster was Lisa Trevor, but the game’s director, Koshi Nakanishi, quickly disproved that theory.

Grace’s mother, Alissa Ashcroft, also survived the original Raccoon City incident, and she worked as a reporter during the initial outbreak. She played a part in trying to uncover the truth behind the Umbrella Corporation, until something happened to her. The events of the older games will be relevant in RE9, as we will also be returning to Raccoon City, which is depicted as a ruined and haunted wasteland.

We also know that Resident Evil Requiem may be an “end of an era” as past leaks and speculation continue to brew about the reason why we are returning to Raccoon City, which will spark an eventual end to this timeline. Some fans also believe that this could be Leon Kennedy’s “last major role” in the current timeline.

Alongside the full release of the game on February 27, 2026, Switch 2 players can also buy two additional Resident Evil titles: Resident Evil 7: Biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition. Both of these games will launch on the same day as Resident Evil Requiem, allowing new players to experience the recent trilogy for the first time on Switch 2.
