Skydance Delays Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra to Late 2026

Apparently, GTA VI isn’t the only game getting delayed today. Skydance Games just announced that their upcoming project, MARVEL 1943: Rise of Hydra, is being pushed back to “beyond early 2026.” Much like GTA VI, this marks the second delay for Rise of Hydra.

More Delays Today

Originally planned for a 2025 release, Rise of Hydra was delayed to early 2026 back in May. Now, fans can expect the game sometime between mid and late 2026—though there’s no clear window or season in sight.

The reason behind the delay feels familiar. Skydance says they need more time to meet the level of quality expected from both their team and the fans. And honestly, that makes sense. Ever since Insomniac’s Spider-Man, there’s been heavy pressure for every Marvel game to hit that same level of polish and cinematic punch.

2026: The Year of Marvel Games

With Rise of Hydra now joining the 2026 lineup, it’s shaping up to be a massive year for Marvel fans. We’re looking at MARVEL 1943: Rise of Hydra, MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls, and Marvel’s Wolverine, all potentially dropping within the same year. Disappointing delay aside, 2026 is stacking up pretty nicely for Marvel games.

Delays Aren’t Always a Bad Thing

Just like GTA VI, this isn’t necessarily bad news. It’s always better to let a game cook longer than rush it out the door. We’ve seen what happens when studios push for release too soon—Anthem, Cyberpunk 2077, and more than a few others serve as cautionary tales.

When a delay happens because the devs are taking the time to do it right, that’s a good sign. It shows commitment to quality, not panic. Sure, waiting sucks—but it’s a small price to pay for a game that actually delivers.

And while we wait, we’ll keep covering all the latest updates and news in our Other Games section, so stay tuned.
