Warhorse Studios has made a pretty surprising announcement, but also a really cool and exciting one! The studio officially revealed their next projects, and it turns out that they are currently working on two different ones:
- A new Kingdom Come adventure
- An open-world Middle-earth RPG
The announcement was shared directly by the studio on social media alongside the message: “You might have heard the rumours, it’s time to reveal what we are working on.”
A New Kingdom Come Project Is Officially Happening
Very few details were revealed, but the confirmation alone is already enough to excite every fan of the series, especially after the massive success of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.

The sequel became one of the best RPG releases of the year thanks to the amazing medieval setting, combat system, really good writing and quest design, and the nice open-world immersion. Warhorse did not confirm if this is a new Kingdom Come with a standalone story, direct sequel, or spin-off.
But the studio clearly is not done with the franchise yet, and we are all for that!
An Open-World Middle-earth RPG
The second announcement might honestly be the biggest surprise. If you ever wanted to go on an adventure in the Lord of the Rings world, Warhorse might be delivering with this one!
Warhorse Studios confirmed they are developing an open-world RPG set in Middle-earth! For those who do not know, this is the fantasy universe created by J. R. R. Tolkien and made popular through The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit movies. Right now, almost nothing is known about the project:
- No release window
- No gameplay details
- No confirmed setting or timeline
- No platforms announced
Still, the idea of a Warhorse-style RPG inside Middle-earth is already getting a lot of people excited. Given the studio’s reputation for immersive open worlds and realistic systems, many players are curious to see how that design philosophy could translate into Tolkien’s universe.
You Will Probably Have To Wait A Bit For More Details
Warhorse Studios ended the announcement by saying, “We’re excited to tell you more when the time is right.”
So for now, this is more of a teaser than a full reveal. But considering how popular Kingdom Come: Deliverance II became, and how huge the Lord of the Rings fanbase still is, this is easily one of the more unexpected RPG announcements of the week. However, you will most likely have to wait a few months, if not years, for any additional announcement regarding those two projects. But at least, you can already look forward to it!
