Blizzard Reveals How Leveling Will Work in WoW Forever

WoW Forever is adding more than 1,000 quests throughout the journey from level 1 to 60, alongside new zones and nine new dungeons. Blizzard has decided to keep level scaling out of the game, so where you go and what you can handle will still matter.

For anyone who has leveled through Classic more times than they can count, having somewhere different to go is a big part of the appeal. There’s only so many times you can follow the same route before you’re practically doing it from memory.

Is Leveling Faster in WoW Forever?

Blizzard says the experience curve has not changed. The new zones provide alternative routes, including more questing content at points where Classic’s leveling starts to slow down. That doesn’t establish an identical time to reach 60. More quests, different routes and updated classes could all affect your pace. We still need testing before putting a reliable number on how long the full journey takes.

New Zones Give You More Places to Quest

Riverglades covers much of the mid 30s to mid 40s experience, while Zephras Isle gives Skyborne characters a starting journey through roughly level 12. Shen’dralas and Mount Hyjal also open up new parts of Azeroth to explore.

Existing areas are getting attention too. Blizzard is adding quests, NPCs and profession introductions to starting zones, expanding the Wetlands, and building on Desolace’s centaur stories and faction rewards. You can still begin somewhere familiar and run into something you haven’t done before.

New boat routes also change how you move around the world. These include a Stormwind Harbor connection to Auberdine and a route linking Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris with Powderfuse Port in Riverglades.

Dungeon Quest XP Is Going Up

Dungeon enemies will award less XP, while dungeon quests will award substantially more. Blizzard wants a visit with quests to feel rewarding without repeated dungeon clears becoming the best leveling method. The intended routine is to gather your quests, run the dungeon, then return to the world. Whether dungeon grinding remains competitive will depend on the actual tuning, so it’s too early to call it dead. Blizzard has also said it currently has no plans for character boosts. For now, the plan is to keep players going through the world and give them more to do along the way.

Food and Legacy Perks Can Help Along the Way

Crafted food can provide a small XP bonus alongside stat benefits. The Legacy system also includes Well Rested, a talent that improves rested experience gains and increases the rested experience cap.

Legacy Challenges reward activities such as leveling classes and reaching profession milestones. Earned points are shared across characters, with each character choosing how to spend them in its own trees. That gives you another reason to level an alt beyond needing somewhere to send all your spare cloth.
