In WoW Forever, Your Legacy Is the Journey

Every adventure leaves behind a legacy. WoW Forever has one too.

Its new Legacy system lets you earn progress across your account by leveling classes, working on professions, and completing challenges throughout Azeroth. Blizzard took inspiration from Hardcore, where players constantly starting over helped keep leveling zones busy. Legacy aims to encourage that same activity without requiring you to lose a character first.

Your Characters Share Points, but Choose Their Own Perks

Completing Legacy Challenges unlocks points across your account. Each character then spends those points independently, so investing in your Warlock doesn’t leave your Warrior with whatever is left over. The three trees are Adventure, Professions and Resourcefulness. You could build one character around leveling benefits and another around gathering, using the same unlocked points.

You Can Earn 65 Points, but Spend 16 at Launch

Blizzard’s launch plan allows players to earn up to 65 Legacy Points, while each character can spend a maximum of 16. Those are two different limits, and earning everything won’t let you immediately fill every tree. Additional points contribute to a separate cosmetic reward track. Blizzard also plans to expand Legacy over time, including its challenges, perks and spending caps.

The Perks Go Beyond Leveling Faster

Examples shown in the BlizzCon build include improved rested XP accumulation and storage through Well Rested, extra gathering materials through Bountiful Harvest, and longer lasting buffs through Permanence. These are separate from your normal class talents.

Reagent Economy is another standout. Its demo tooltip removes vendor purchased reagents from class abilities and reagent costs from Tier 1 Camping features. That’s a perk you invest in, rather than a blanket removal of reagents for everyone. These effects remain subject to Beta changes.

There’s a Spectral Bear to Work Toward

The BlizzCon reward track showed a Replica Ironforge Air Rifle at 15 earned points, a Spectral Bear Cub at 25, a Spectral Bear Tabard at 40, and Reins of the Spectral Bear at 55. These are demo thresholds and may change.

Hardcore has a separate restriction. Progress earned outside Hardcore doesn’t carry into it, while Hardcore progress can carry outward. You won’t be able to prepare a Hardcore character by earning its perks on Normal first.
