Dastardly Duos brings some interesting new loot to the table, as old expansion sets get new life with some new item levels. However, as is often the case with upscaling old gear, things can get weird. And boy, they sure did for the Mages out there!
That’s… a LOT of Spell Power
Hyper_yeen got some nice loot from the new event, an old Burning Crusade Mage Incanter’s Regalia set piece. It’s scaled up to current Veteran 4/8, sitting at a 632 item level, with the appropriate stats. So far, so good. Well, considering the original version’s 4-set bonus granted players 100 spell power when hit, it seems the extra item levels SLIGHTLY buffed that as well.
That’s right, 3.4 million spell power for 15 seconds when hit in melee! Considering it’s a 4-set, we can’t say whether that’s just a tooltip issue or an actual stat you can get. But with all the crazy scaling issues we’ve seen in Timewalking and similar events, it would not be surprising to hear it’s an actual buff. Now, obviously the set itself is disabled as it’s legacy loot. However, it would still be interesting to know whether it would work if active!
Scaling
The item itself is definitely flagged as still being from the Burning Crusade, as glamdr1ng commented, one of the items they received disenchanted into a 
Void Crystal, the BC enchanting material. This may be related to the scaling issue, as an item level of 632 back in WoW’s first expansion may indeed have given players 3.4 million spell power.
