After testing Warriors against Mages, Rextroy has turned to another large-scale class experiment: 40 Druids vs 40 Shamans. Using the same ruleset as before, this matchup quickly turned into a demonstration of just how oppressive certain mechanics can be when scaled to raid-sized combat.
The Rules
- The victor is decided after the best of 5 rounds
- All players must stay within the Field of Strife
- No resurrecting until the current round ends

Round One
The Druids opened by pushing directly towards the Shaman backline. Almost immediately, the lag returned—largely caused by
Starfall’s uncapped AoE. Combined with
Tranquility, the performance issues actually worked in favour of the Druids. The result was a brutal stomp.
Druid deaths = 6, Shaman deaths = 40
Round Two
Every Druid started in stealth. With less lag this time, the outcome still didn’t change. Once combat began,
Starfall pressure overwhelmed the Shamans quickly.
Druid deaths = 4, Shaman deaths = 40
Round Three
The Shamans went all in. They used
Heroism, and they benefited from Alterac Valley’s 20% health buff, granted while their captain, Vanndar Stormpike, remained alive. This was meant to compensate for the fact that three Shamans had left the group. But it wasn’t enough. Even though the Shamans had more healers than the Druids, the fight ended with the Shamans retreating.
Druid deaths = 2, Shaman deaths = 37.
The Final Blow
To underline just how dominant 40 Druids can be, they marched straight to Vanndar Stormpike, while all four bunkers were still standing. The kill shouldn’t have been possible, but that didn’t matter. Stormpike fell, and the Druids claimed yet another decisive victory.
