One of the Horde’s main characters might be in some trouble in Patch 12.1.5—and one spell on the PTR tells us who.
Patch 12.1.5 is bringing a new one-boss raid: The Unbinding of Kith’ix. Here we will face the ancient C’Thraxxi general who has been imprisoned beneath the Vaults of Ula’tek. Blizzard has confirmed that we will face the Kith’ix alongside Lady Liadrin—and that’s where things get interesting.
A new spell has appeared on the 12.1.5 PTR, 
Blade of the Blood Knight Matriarch. The flavour text for this spell states “Lady Liadrin’s prized sword. Salandria wanted you to have it.”
So, does this mean Liadrin dies fighting Kith’ix? Not necessarily, but it’s not the kind of flavour text that makes you think Liadrin must be having a lovely afternoon either.
This isn’t the first time WoW has given us an item belonging to a character who is very much still alive. So while the Blade of the Blood Knight Matriarch is definitely suspicious, it’s hardly a smoking gun.
There are other ways this could play out, still. Liadrin could survive Kith’ix, but be Thanos snapped out of existence by Xal’atath like Aleria and Turalyon. It could simply be a buff used during the encounter. Or yes, Liadrin could actually bite the dust.
Considering Liadrin is one of the central characters to Midnight’s storyline, and one of the Horde’s key figures, it would be a pretty big statement from Blizzard! But for now, we’ll have to wait and see whether Salandria has her adoptive mother’s sword because Liadrin is gone—or because Blizzard enjoys messing with our heads.
