World of Warcraft’s Social window is getting a major upgrade in Patch 12.1. For years, WoW’s Friends List has remained unchanged. However, as Blizzard teased in the State of Azeroth update, the Friends system is getting a revamp!
Patch 12.1’s Friends List Overhaul
The redesigned Social tab aims to make it easier than ever to stay connected with friends and find new groups. Instead of one simple list, the new window now features dedicated tabs for the following categories:
- Friends
- Recent Allies
- Quick Join
- Friend Requests
- Raid
One of the biggest additions is the tags system. You’ll be able to categorise yourself and friends by preferred role and the type of content you like to engage with. Whether you’re looking for Mythic+ teammates, raid groups for transmog runs, or PvP partners, this should help finding friends much easier!

Interestingly, Blizzard is also expanding the way players can discover new connections. With the updated system, you’ll be able to view a player’s friends, potential friends, and mutual connections from your own friends list.

What do you think of the revamp? Let us know!
