Preservation Raid Nerf, Dungeon Buff: Healer Class Tuning on the 12.1 PTR, July 16th

Starym's Avatar by Starym

We have some additional changes coming to the specs on the 12.1 PTR, as healers are getting some more attention. Preservation Evoker got the biggest focus, as they are being nerfed for raids and buffed for dungeons. Resto Druids and Holy Palas get some smaller buffs. Meanwhile, Discipline and Mistweaver get a mixed bag of both buffs and nerfs. This is all on top of the bigger class tuning pass from earlier in the week, which did feature some healer changes, but comparatively minor ones.

The changes are live on the PTR already. There’s plenty more to see, so let’s dive in.

With hotfixes to the PTR that are now deployed, today we’ve made the following updates to healers in Curse of Ula’tek.

Druid

  • Restoration
    • Abundance increases critical chance of Regrowth by 60% (was 50%) and reduces cost by 60% (was 50%).
    • Regrowth healing increased by 25%.

Evoker

  • Preservation
    • Developers’ notes: We’d like to reduce Preservation raid healing, as it has eclipsed other healers by a significant margin. At the same time, we’re increasing their triage healing through Verdant Embrace and Living Flame to help them out in dungeons where they are not overperforming.
    • Dream Breath healing over time reduced by 25%.
    • Merithra’s Blessing healing reduced by 10%.
    • Living Flame healing increased by 30%.
    • Verdant Embrace healing increased by 40%.
    • Reverberations causes Verdant Embrace to heal for 40% over 8 sec (was 60%).
    • Class set triggers Living Flame at 100% value (was 150%).
    • Life Spark increases healing and damage of Living Flame by 100% (was 50%) (does not affect PvP combat).

Monk

  • Mistweaver
    • All healing reduced by 8%.
    • Mastery: Gust of Mist healing increased by 50%.

Paladin

  • Holy
    • Holy Shock mana cost decreased by 11%.
    • Holy Shock healing increased by 50%.

Priest

  • Discipline
    • Penance damage and healing increased by 15%.
    • Grim Deliverance now increases Shadow Mend healing by 40% (was 30%) and increases its cast time by 0.3 seconds (was 0.5 seconds).
    • Atonement healing falls off more sharply when healing more than 5 targets.
      • Developers’ notes: For example, when healing exactly 10 targets, Atonement healing would be 7% less effective than it was before.
    • Void Shield absorption reduced by 10%.
  • Holy
    • Prayer of Mending healing increased by 20%.
    • Oracle: Prompt Prognosis healing increased by 30%.
