ElvUI fans rejoice! After previously announcing ElvUI was done for Midnight, we got an update from Luckyone on its status for the Midnight expansion.
The previous announcement in October was joined by many others including Weak Auras in regard to Blizzard’s stance on add-ons going into Midnight. ElvUI was putting all development for the Midnight expansion on hold. Over the Alpha and Beta testing cycles, Blizzard has slowly loosened some restrictions, but still don’t want add-ons interacting with any real-time combat logic in game. On November 19th, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas said as much replying to a user on Reddit, and emphasized he doesn’t want your custom UIs to go anywhere.
Today’s announcement, which comes just over a month after ElvUI’s previous one, confirms they are sticking around for Midnight.
In an update posted on X, Luckyone confirmed ElvUI is going to receive support for Midnight, and it will continue to be supported into Midnight and beyond. They aren’t sure yet how they are going to deal with unit frames and nameplates, but the basics like anchors, skins, chat, bags, and action bars are already patched for the beta.
