With the release of Midnight, addons have been the talk of the town during and after the prepatch. Since Blizzard’s restrictions on what addons can and can’t do, there have been a lot of ones that have been around for years that no longer work, or simply tons of newer ones popping up in the wake of these changes.
Whether or not you are returning for Midnight or just want some alternatives for your addons, here is a list of some noteworthy addons for Midnight.
Basic Essential Addons for Midnight
There are millions of addons you can find for WoW, and many you already know by name. So some of these won’t be a surprise.
- BigWigs/LittleWigs or DBM
- Both of these addons have been around for years, offering you readable information needed to beat bosses, encounters, or to track what abilities are going off.
However, BigWigs & DBM both still work in Midnight; Blizzard has cracked down on how effective they are at reporting information during a boss fight. They are still commonly used among players, but there is now an in-game alternative you can use without them. Still, they are highly recommended to have.

- Threat Plates
- Platynator
- Plater Nameplates
- All of these offer ways to customize enemy & friendly nameplates/health bars. These give you better control over debuff/ buff placement, how many you will see, fonts, sizes, and much more. However, if you want, simply an upgrade to the default UI, we recommend Better Blizzard Frames.
- Pawn
- Pawn, at its core, lets you know if an item would be an upgrade, but you can also plug in stat weights to get a more accurate estimate of whether an item would be best for your class/spec. It’s best recommended for newer players, but it still offers lots of ways to tailor it for your exact character and preferences.
- Leatrix Plus
- Leatrix Plus is an efficient and modular addon that offers many quality-of-life improvements for UI & Automation. Some important highlights of this addon are its ability to auto-repair & sell junk items, hide your other addon icons via a hidden mini-map button, & more.
- Angry Keystones
- Better & more detailed timers for Mythic+
- Account Wide Interface Settings
- Synchronizes various Blizzard Interface Settings that are normally character-specific and applies them to all of your characters on your account.
- Cooldown Manager Centered
- As a substitute for Weakaura’s, this addon helps organize and improve how Blizzard’s built‑in Cooldown Manager is presented.
- Details
- Damage meter, but Blizzard has hidden some elements that Details could previously record live, but basically still works the same.
Quality of Life Addons
- Dialogue UI
- Changes & adds customization to dialogue text and NPC chat messages to make questing more immersive or simply easier to read.
- HandyNotes
- For marking collectables, treasures, & more in outdoor zones & instances.
- Narcissus
- Narcissus adds and improves Character Info, Transmog Display, and Photo Mode, making it a must-have for Transmoggers.
- Plumber
- Adds several QoL features, including a Loot Window, an Expansion Summary UI, and improvements to the Talking Head UI.
- Rarescanner
- Scans for Rare spawns so you don’t miss those important kills.
- Titan Panel
- Adds additional information bars such as armor durability, PC performance, & more.
