Final Legion Remix Stage Boosts M+ Numbers While Retails Is Chugging Along

The eighteenth week of Mythic+ this season is over, and Nightstalker314 takes a look at the weekly data provided by Raider.IO.

While overall activity on Retail remained almost unchanged, Remix M+ saw a massive surge. Players either progressed their infinite power now that the final stage being active, or tried to push further with a higher the higher item level level ceiling. So let’s look at the details.

Weekly Total Run Performance Compared To Other Seasons

The total amount of completed runs globally dropped by 2.81% compared to the previous week, with slight regional differences. Chinese players finished 6.72% fewer runs, while the other four regions completed 0.74% more runs. The difference might be tied to the ongoing trend of Chinese players focusing on the Titan Reforged Realms. Compared to prior seasons, TWW S3 was no longer at the bottom in week 18. By that point, DF S4 had already reached its final week, which TWW’s early access release.

The global share of Chinese players’ activity dropped once more this week. At 45.64%, this is the lowest value since the first two weeks and week 11, when the EU and US focused on farming crests.

The final stage of Remix brought with it an increased item level ceiling as well as faster power and currency progression. Once again, players returned to grinding Mythic+ instead of relying solely on the daily mythic raid cycle. Overall, 53.96% more runs were completed compared to the previous week. This excludes the Chinese servers, where the increase was just 14.57%. The focus on the Titan Reforged servers is showing once more.

Total Runs Across All S3 Dungeons

The split across all dungeons was almost unchanged. The order only shuffled slightly, with Floodgate rising from rank 7 to rank 4. The overall success rate climbed by 0.94 percentage points to 88.15%. The Pulsar affix is much easier to deal with than Ascendant was the previous week. It is still surprising how much better Priory performed despite Fortified being active on more key levels.

Gambit (92.44%) managed to stay just ahead of Eco-Dome (92.34%) again. Streets of Wonder (91.35%) closed the gap once more because Fortified has a smaller impact on a 5-boss dungeon. Halls once again ranked fourth with an 89.51% success rate. Dawnbreaker (86.38%) was slightly above Priory (86.33%). Floodgate (84.50%) stayed more than five points ahead of Ara-Kara (79.30%). A larger focus on low-level keys from fresh characters led to more runs in Floodgate. This dungeon is quite forgiving on the trivial key levels. Meanwhile, Ara-Kara continued to suffer from the lack of nerfs.

Split Across All S3 Key Levels

76.36% of all keys were finished at key level 10 and higher. With 26.01%, level 10 was a bit more popular than level 12. Less than 45% of all keys were done at 12 and above. The focus clearly shifted from keys above 11 to the range below. From key level 2 to 9, we saw an increase by 9% to 19% in relative share. Meanwhile, high keys saw a decrease by up to 20%. Only key level 22 saw an increase in activity. The chasm of apathy is forming between levels 19 and 20 this time around. At this rating level, you could probably draw a line for the top 1% or 2% cut-off. Maybe the increased vault rewards, going up to key level 18, will lead to higher continuous participation throughout the season.

The overall increase in success rate was reflected in key levels 4 to 11. Values range from 1.4 to 3.51 percentage points. A clear indicator of how important well-tuned affixes are. Pulsar is not the easiest on the list, but clearly better designed than Ascendant. And that one is seeing a major nerf in Season 1 of Midnight.

Legion Remix Dungeon Split

The split across all dungeons decreased a bit in week 10. This might be a reflection of a general interest in just running M+ without being picky about the dungeon. The order also shuffled a bit, given the rather small gaps in total runs. And Court of Stars was not dead last, despite still producing the worst success rate with 4.27% depletion. Maybe affixes turn this instance into a struggle. Or groups that underestimate pulling the second boss without separating the adds walk into a certain wipe here and there.

Legion Remix Key Level Split

The key level ceiling jumped from 189 last week to 196. But the highest timed key was on level 195. Level 200 might be possible with the perfect affix combination. Something unusual continues to happen at key level 119. Run numbers here have been a lot higher than on the key levels above and below for multiple weeks now. Overall, this level still represents just over 0.11% of all completed keys.

Mythic+ Run Data by RaiderIO

The total number of completed keys increased at every level, with the overall focus shifting toward levels 35 to 60. The capstone levels for cosmetic rewards are becoming less and less relevant, it seems. The relative share for level 20 dropped from 4.71% to 4.51%. For level 30, we saw a massive decrease from 10.35% to 6.74%. Level 40 increased from 3.36% to 3.65%, and level 50 dropped from 2.37% to 2.28%. At this point, Remix M+ is more about grinding power and securing the level 40 title. The early numbers for week 11 only emphasize this trend.

Conclusion and Week 19 Forecast

Retail M+ is chugging along alone in its final weeks. The Christmas break usually leads to a dip and a resurgence in activity. Total numbers for Remix in week 11 are once again falling off a cliff so far. Remix, at this point, is largely used for alt power leveling. With less than five weeks left, only the most dedicated players are sticking to the infinite power grind.

As of this writing, 120 hours after the US reset, hourly numbers for the main regions are slightly behind in both the EU and the US. The trend of less focus on Retail continues in China. Their numbers are 11% lower than in week 18. Next weekend, we will see how big the impact of the holidays is for the final stretch of TWW S3 and Remix.
