In World of Warcraft: Midnight, players learned of a quest located at the Arcantina that takes us back to AU Draenor to revisit Garrosh’s grave. Spoiler warning ahead.
Crumbling Legacy
The questline starts off by talking to Gamon. He and Gorgonna have been sharing memories about past leaders of the Horde, with both sharing unpleasant memories about Garrosh. Despite Thrall telling him Garrosh was defeated in Draenor, Gamon wants some reassurance that Garrosh is actually gone. He gives you a quest to go to Nagrand to his grave site and bring back some proof.

You take a portal to AU Draenor to Nagrand, and arrive at Garrosh’s grave site. He and his axe are still there after all of those years.

Interacting with it triggers a short cutscene showing his death. For those who played through AU Nagrand back in Warlords of Draenor, we are already familiar with how things ended up with the quest And Justice for Thrall.
Collecting the tombstone pieces summons spirits of various orcs that remember Garrosh, all of them having a negative opinion of him. They remember him for committing senseless bloodshed and having no honor.
Elder Gavokka says: One rock for each of my children that dies without honor. May his memory rot, honorless and forgotten.
Worgskin the Savage says: Each rock we take is penance for the honor he stole from our clan. May his legacy crumble with his corpse.
Packleader Kargora says: I followed his orders with honor and pride. Had I known how far he would take us from glory… I would have fled further than I threw that rock. May his spirit know no peace.

Advisor Iskar says: Grommash once told me our clan was not built on senseless bloodshed. Garrosh… did not hold his father’s ideals.
You’ll also recover a
Weathered Tome during the quest that you put on display in the Arcantina.

After collecting the tombstone pieces, you head back to Gamon to complete the questline. He and Gorgonna exchange a few words afterward about the opinions on the Warchiefs, Cairne, and the Warsong.
Gorgonna says: You have lived through each Warchief in turn, as I have.
Gamon says: And past it. The age of the Warchief is over, it seems.
Gorgonna says: Does this please you?
Gamon says: In some ways. Thrall… Thrall was a good leader. Cairne Bloodhoof believed in his vision for the Horde.
Gorgonna says: But the Warchief who came after Thrall… I still mourn the day he struck down Cairne.
Gamon says: As do I. Garrosh Hellscream was… well, I know you share my opinion of him.
Gorgonna says: Vol’jin’s rule was far better received. He was wise, clever. Strong.
Gamon says: But short-lived. As for who came after…
Gorgonna says: Let us speak of more pleasant things.
Gamon says: Such as the strength of the Warsong under your lead?
Gorgonna says: The Warsong were always strong. I only reminded them of it.
Gamon says: You restored the honor Hellscream took from them. That is worth recognition, and celebration. Let us drink to that.
Lore Inaccuracies are Frustrating Players
The goal with the Arcantina in Midnight is to help introduce newer players to the lore through different means, quickly learning about events from Azeroth’s big history. This questline is frustrating because it ignores how difficult it used to be to reach AU Draenor.
We learn in the Allies of the Horde: Mag’har Orc questline, that in order to travel back to AU Draenor, we must attune a fragment from the Vision of Time Garrosh originally used in order to travel from our current universe to the alternate one. This questline creates a major lore inconsistency because we learn from Gamon that the Mag’har orcs routinely go back to spit on or tear rocks off his grave. If the orcs can get back there so easily, then why did we need the help of the Bronze Dragonflight and the Vision of Time to go back?
In the Tyranny of the Light scenario at the end of the same questline, we learn the Mag’har orcs must abandon Draenor because of Yrel and the Lightbound.
The Lightbound believed the Mag’har caused Draenor’s downfall, and visiting Garrosh’s grave now would be happening decades after those events. This has lead to widespread confusion about the status of AU Draenor as a whole.
What are your thoughts on a quest like this? Should it be scrapped, reworked, or are you a fan of it?
