When Midnight drops, raiders won’t be starved for content! Blizzard is starting the expansion with not one, but three raids at launch!
While we do not have any specific details about the encounters right now, we at least know the names of the raids and the boss counts:
- The Voidspire
- The Dreamrift
- March on Quel’Danas
The Voidspire – Xal’atath’s Seat of Power
The Voidspire will be the main raid of the expansion with six bosses. It’s located within the Voidstorm and serves as Xal’atath’s stronghold. Think of it as Nerub-ar Palace of the expansion, but with fewer bosses.
Here’s what the Voidstorm zone looks like. Screenshot taken from the press kit.

The Dreamrift
The Dreamrift is supposed to be a single-boss raid that takes you to a place where the veil between primordial dreams and brutal reality is thin. The last time Blizzard released a one-boss raid was Crucible of Storms in Battle for Azeroth.

March on Quel’Danas
March on Quel’Danas is a two-boss raid, and according to Blizzard, it’s “full of story spoilers.” Based on the screenshot description, it’s most likely about the forces of the Void corrupting the Sunwell.

Why This Matters
Launching with three raids instead of just one completely changes how we’ll play through Midnight’s story. Instead of being funneled down a single path like in past expansions, Blizzard is letting us choose which story we’ll play through first, which also helps keep content fresh longer after launch.
Additionally, one and two-boss raids are also perfect for players who don’t have the time to clear longer raids.
We hope to learn more about the new raids when the first dataminable 12.0 Alpha build drops!
