We’re back with some logs and some raid popularity. With Blizzard announcing no major class tuning coming before the raids start coming in, and the Expansion’s Early Access just around the corner, it’s a great time to see where things are at the end of the pre-patch. Things have moved around considerably and all over the place after the recent massive tuning, so let’s dive in.
Note: We are using normalized scores instead of raw DPS for the Warcraft Logs rankings. Normalized scores take into account the outlier boss fights where certain specs could stack massive DPS (due to the nature of the fight, whether it’s AoE spam or something else), which would then affect their overall score for the whole raid.
Mythic
Spec Popularity
As we dive into the most played specs, things have changed significantly since we last checked in two weeks ago. Affliction has seen a massive drop from its top spot, losing half its playerbase in 9th. Frost Mage easily takes over the No.1 spot, only needing to gain around 1k players to grab the top honors. Devourers also gained about the same number of players, moving from 6th to 2nd very quickly, pushing Unholy down one. Ret passes Fury in 4th, while Survival moves two up into 5th. Fire and Arms remain as the least popular specs in the Manforge.
Overall Damage 95th Percentile
The damage logs themselves show exactly why Devourer has been gaining so many players (aside from simply being the new spec), as its domination extends even further than before. Even after Unholy’s giant 9-spot bounce back into 2nd place, it’s still nowhere close to the Demon Hunter. Demonology also skyrocketed from the bottom of the pack post-tuning, taking Affliction’s place in 3rd, with Destro moving from dead-last into 9th. Enhancement and Frost Mage also see big gains, while Devastation drops 4 spots to 6th, ahead of an also surging Windwalker. Down at the bottom, we see the once No.1 spec of TWW Season 3, as Beast Mastery joins the perpetually penultimate Augmentation, with a sprinkle of Arms seasoning the bottom 3.
Overall Damage All Percentiles
The generalist chart is very similar to the top parses, but we do see Frost Mage and Survival doing a little better, both edging out Enhancement. Havoc is also improved here, sitting in 7th. Affliction didn’t drop quite as far down, managing to hang on to the top 10, but just barely.
Boss Only Damage All Percentiles
The boss charts are almost identical to the overall damage ones, with Havoc doing a little better.

Fractillus

Nexus-King Salhadaar

Dimensius, the All-Devouring

Heroic
Heroic Spec Popularity
The most played Heroic specs actually remained quite stable, unlike their Mythic counterparts. The top 3 is the same, and we see Beast Mastery drop a little, but only two spots, as Unholy climbs three. Demonology makes an appearance in 7th, moving out from the lower reaches, joining Destruction in the top 10.
Heroic Overall Damage All Percentiles
As we saw with the spec popularity, Heroic is slow to move, and the damage charts confirm it. Survival is still at the top, and Devourer is still in 2nd, not really moving closer to the Hunter. Unholy does move up a little, but it was already pretty high before. Windwalker is the big mover here, gaining 5 spots in 5th.
