Players Are Already Breaking Housing With This Floating Home Trick

Emma's Avatar by Emma

Well, it didn’t take long for people to start testing the limits of Player Housing! If you’ve been dreaming of a treehouse or a floating, Dalaran-inspired witch’s hut, there is good news. It is possible to make your house float—though it’s a bit tricky to pull off. Here’s how to get your home in the air. Thanks to Blondiwasabi on Reddit for the tips!

1. Set Up Your Platform First

Pick a piece of decor—rocks and platforms work well—and place it where you want your house to “hover”. This will be your anchor for your floating home.

2. Adjust Your Build Settings

Make sure Snap to Grid is on and Collision (clipping) is turned off. Without the right settings, your house is staying firmly on the ground.

3. Finding the Up Arrow

The vertical arrow you need to move your house up does not show on the gizmo—but it is there, you’ve just got to find it. Some players say “the up arrow is super buried inside the house”, so zoom in and move your cursor around until you find it.

4. Fine-Tune Placement

Once you’ve got your house, you can use the slider arrows to nudge it around. However, be careful when doing this as there is no undo button.

This method requires persistence and patience, but with a bit of effort, you can finally have the floating hideaway you’ve been dreaming of. And you best believe the community has already made some amazing creations with this trick. From floating Mage cottages, to Night Elven treehouses, you can check them out below:
