Raid DPS Rankings, Week 2: Affliction Drops, Fury Rises, Destro Taking Over

Starym's Avatar by Starym

Week 2 brings a lot of change as the old Season 2 gear bleeds out and the new set bonuses start to kick in for a lot of players. Affliction is well and truly gone, with Destruction taking its Warlock slot. Fury is on the rise while Arcane and Elemental run the show. Let’s dive in.

For a look at which specs are expected to be on top later in the raid, after the tier sets and gear even out a little, here’s our Manaforge: Omega tier list.

Note: We are using normalized scores instead of raw DPS for the Warcraft Logs rankings. Normalized scores take into account the outlier boss fights where certain specs could stack massive DPS (due to the nature of the fight, whether it’s AoE spam or something else), which would then affect their overall score for the whole raid.

Heroic

Overall Damage 95th Percentile

A big shakeup in week 2, as players gear up more and more. Destruction moves to the very top as Affliction falls off entirely without its old set bonuses and with the nerf, falling down almost to the very bottom, a 20-spot drop. Arcane is on the rise, grabbing two spots in 2nd, moving ahead of former top dog Elemental. While Arms got its buff this week, it’s Fury that’s soaring, 7 spots up! Marksmanship and Frost DK are also gaining a lot of ground, as is Subtlety, which comes out on top of the Rogues and into 7th. Fire surges from the bottom half, making it two Mages in the top 10, with Unholy doing the same for Death Knights. Assassination closes out the top 10, so we have three classes with two specs at the top.

Frost Mage seems to be set to have another not-fun season in the raid, as it’s back to the bottom 3, joined by the expected Balance, and the not-so-expected Beast Mastery.

Overall Damage All Percentiles

Arcane grabs the whole thing in the overall percentiles, as Elemental drops to third here as well. Fury is doing even better, grabbing 4th after a 5-spot leap, while Assassination is still holding on to the top yellow slot right behind it. We see once again that this chart is slower to move, as Demonology is still hanging around, just ahead of the two DKs that bunched up. Shadow manages to pierce the top 10 and beats out Subtlety for the final spot.

Boss Only Damage All Percentiles

We can see where the top 3 from the overall damage charts get their power, as all three are at the top here as well! Unholy, Affliction, and Feral are the only ones doing significantly better in the (mostly) single-target chart, with the Druid barely making the top 10.

Individual Bosses, Mythic

We’re moving up in the world a little, as the first three bosses are being farmed pretty solidly (with the smaller exception of Loom’ithar), so we’re heading to bosses 4-6 in Mythic. Soul Hunter logs seem particularly sparse, so it does seem players are taking the optional part of the boss seriously, despite those juicy boots! Shadow and Feral shine on Forgweaver and Fractillus, respectively.

The Nexus-King has a very similar chart to the overall one, with the DKs doing better and even Retribution showing up, just outside the top 10. Dimensius is his own thing, as Arms is doing very well there after the buff, and Assassination dominates.

Normal Overall Damage All Percentiles

Once again, we see Devastation as the biggest outlier in Normal, as the top spec of Season 2 refuses to go away here, sticking around in the middle of the pack. Feral also makes it into the top 10, right into a DK sandwich.
