It’s time to do a deep dive into class and spec popularity in dungeons! We have some fancy new charts to take a look at, showing how Paladins are dominating even more clearly!
The Data
The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this past reset and not on the season as a whole. Raider.IO also has some very useful new(ish) tools, so we’ll have some fancy graphs to check out this time!
The Most Popular DPS Specs in Mythic+
The top spot won’t surprise anyone at this point, as Retribution is still going very strong. It’s also in the top 10 in the log rankings, albeit near the bottom, so it’s also performing well in addition to being extremely popular. Unholy is pushing up, especially after the class tuning, as it’s becoming very strong. Balance has been doing very well in the dungeons for a while, and so the population keeps creeping up (flapping up?). Beast Mastery is still doing very well here, despite being near the bottom of the logs, while Marksmanship has been doing well in damage, and is catching up here as well.
Augmentation, the once king of it all in Mythic+ is still at the bottom, so let’s see if this coming week’s big buffs do anything to help it. Affliction and Subtlety aren’t quite as bad as the Evoker, but are still on the bottom.

And if you were wondering about the higher keys, things don’t really change that much (other than Ret being somehow even MORE popular). This is the +10 – + 11 chart:
Class Popularity
Even when you add up the numbers for the multi-spec classes, almost of them reach Paladin’s single-spec numbers. Hunters do manage to break the pink class with their three specs adding up to 14.5%, a mere 1.9% ahead of the lonely Retribution. Death Knights make a valiant effort, but come up short of Paladins, with Frost dragging the class down. Druids come in an extremely close third, only 0.1% off from the DKs! Mages are almost identical to Druids, at 11.3%.
