While using only his Steam Deck (and a handful of addons), a player managed to hit a 3500 M+ score in Midnight Season 1.

Reddit user u/Impressive_Cod1034 has shared his feat on a Reddit thread. The user has also created a video showcasing his setup, plus diving into the addon setup they use while playing on their Steam Deck.
From their original post:
| Had a baby three months ago and my gaming pc was an unfortunate casualty in the apartment re-org. Playing wow on SD via the console port addon has been very fun, and I’m super glad I went through the (albeit painful) set up and adjustment period. After playing this game off and on for 20 years learning how to play again on console has actually been a super refreshing experience. If you’ve been curious, give it a shot! I put a YT vid together talking about it if you’re at all interested. |
Challenges
Note that this transition wasn’t smooth. In the video and on the original thread, the player highlights how arduous the transition was from playing WoW on and off for 20 years on a PC to playing on a console. Turns out that limiting controls to only a handful of keys isn’t easy for an MMO.
In their video, u/Impressive_Cod1034 talks about the importance of addons. The biggest requirement is the ConsolePort addon, as it enables WoW to be played mostly strictly from a modern controller. However, they also highlight the importance of other addons like Bugsack, BugGrabber, and EnhancedQoL.
The goal with the addons is to reduce the amount of interaction required due to the Steam Deck’s limitations. Bugsack and BugGrabber prevent Lua errors while in a key, preventing loss of vision. Meanwhile, EnhancedQoL adds useful functions like auto-vendor trash items, auto slotting your key, among other features.
If you’re looking to replicate their setup, Impressive_Cod goes over their ConsolePort initial setup for both action bars and movement in their video, so make sure to watch it if you want to learn more.
