We’re switching to all specs this time around! We’re diving into all three roles and their popularity in the dungeons. The meta has settled since the class tuning two weeks ago, so we have a solid overview of the current situation.
The Data
The data used in this article comes from Raider.IO, taking into account all Mythic+ runs across all levels of play. The data is focused on this past reset and not on the season as a whole.
The Most Popular Specs in Mythic+
With the added tanks and healers we can see just how popular Vengeance is, as it’s taking almost everything! It gets into gear around +12 and then just expands from there, with the other tanks disappearing. While it’s difficult to tell Holy and Discipline apart by color, it’s pretty simple by bar length, as the massively larger one is Disc, and also just takes over even more in higher keys.
We do see a lot more variation in the really high keys, especially the +20ies! Many DPS specs made it in, including a very solid Retribution chunk, and a few Assassination Rogues as well.
In the overall population numbers, we see just how massive Vengeance is, as a tank spec is sitting in 2nd and is only 1.5% away from Retribution! Discipline isn’t far behind either, 0.5 below the tank, as we see just how dominant these three specs are. Interestingly, while the tank and healer are the absolute No.1 choice in M+, the top DPS spec really isn’t, and we have to go down to No.6 to find one of the top choices.
If you’re wondering what happened to the DPS spec numbers, Ret in particular, they’re just lower since the tanks and healers are now also calculated in the overall percentage. The Paladin spec actually gained a huge 0.6% compared to last week in the DPS spec department.
Group Composition Popularity
The main group comp of the season remains the same and actually keeps almost its exact lead from last week. We do see Retribution creeping into more of the highly ranked comps, however, as its tuning buffs helped put in in three of the four top groups!
We’ll see if the stats significantly change next week, as the tuning’s effects should have all been processed by now.
