From what we’ve seen so far, Midnight is set to be a great expansion for PvP enjoyers—and Blizzard are doubling down on that right out of the gate. We have a new PvP Zone, Slayer’s Rise, which serves as both a 40v40 Epic Battleground, and an area for open-world PvP. And now, in addition to this, War Mode PvP sets will come with their own set bonuses.
War Mode Sets Gain Real Power
In the past, War Mode gear has served as an accessible entry to PvP gearing—but in Midnight, it might just serve as a more compelling progression option. Over on X, MrGM has brought our attention to the War Mode vendor on the Midnight Beta, who is selling gear with some pretty juicy bonuses.
The 2 set bonus increases Versatility by 6% while in War Mode, while the 4 set bonus increases your primary stat (in this case, Agility) by 7%, and Stamina by 10% while in War Mode.
However, this new find has also raised some concerns: will we be able to convert War Mode gear into tier sets via the Revival Catalyst? As these items already have their own set bonuses, some players are doubtful that this will be possible.
Slayer’s Rise: Midnight’s New PvP Feature
Midnight also introduces Slayer’s Rise, a PvP playground, set in the new Voidstorm zone. This area will feature PvP World Quests, weeklies, and special events. It is also the stage for the new Epic Battleground, inspired by Alterac Valley and Isle of Conquest.
A Promising Future for PvP
After years of feeling like the overlooked side of the game, Midnight is poised to deliver the most substantial improvements to PvP in a long time. From War Mode set bonuses, to a full PvP zone, PvPers may be entering their most exciting expansion in years.
