WoW Crashing on DirectX 12? Players say this NVIDIA Driver Helped

NVIDIA has just released new GeForce drivers containing direct fixes for WoW issues. If you have been experiencing random crashes or in-game stuttering with an NVIDIA Graphics Card, it is worth trying out the new drivers to see if they help with it.

The new driver, 610.52, is a hotfix driver based on the recently released 610.47. This means it might take a few days to appear on your NVIDIA app, but it is available to download directly from their customer support page.

NVIDIA Driver Impact

The official notes are vague on what the fixes are, listing only:

FIXED [World of Warcraft] Gaming stability improvements [5563205]

However, players testing the drivers have shared their results on a Reddit thread:

From the comment section, it seems that the drivers mostly fixed issues related to DirectX 12 in WoW, which were causing frame stuttering and crashes. These were prevalent when a lot of new assets were being loaded at the same time, like when you changed zones or phases, or when browsing the appearance collection tab.

If you’ve had to switch to DirectX 11 recently due to crashes or flat-out couldn’t play the game, it is worth updating your drivers to see if it fixes any issues you were facing.
