In World of Warcraft: Midnight, Void Elves are joining the ranks of Demon Hunters. There’s a way that you can actually start working on the questline now, thanks to a side questline in K’aresh. Starting with the quest A Common Cause, completing the In Search of Darkness questline will complete part of the requirements.
Completing the In Search of Darkness questline will set you up for The Pursuit Continues when the quest goes live in the Midnight pre-patch, saving you a bunch of time unlocking the race and class combination when it releases.
If you’re just looking to quickly complete the quests, we got the story covered below going over this questline from 11.2.
In Search of Darkness
The questline starts off with Magister Umbric. He tells you his apprentice Leona Darkstrider was researching ways to harness the void, and she sought out Adarus Duskblaze to see if the ways of the Illidari could help. He lets you know she has disappeared, and to find Adarus to help you find her.

Adarus is annoyed by you (less so if you /bow before talking to him), but he tells you him and Leora made a pact. He teaches her the ways of the Illidari, and she infuses him with the powers of the of the void. He says she’s in Fracture of Laacuna retrieving an item for him, if she’s alive.
Leora is very much alive. She’s shocked but not surprised to see you instead of Adarus, and that his lack of faith speaks volumes.

Leora Darkstrider says: You’re not Adarus. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised
She goes on to tell you that the void espouses all truths, and that she won’t be able to defeat Ramon’ta the Insatiable without some help. Leona needs your help to defeat the empowered worm so she can claim its power. Using a
Void Lure, you and Leora go and kill three Void Tempests to feed Ramon’ta to empower it with more void, making it enough for Adarus’ ritual.
Leona Darkstrider says: We must feed Ramon’ta on the remains of the Void Tempests that we defeat here.
Leona Darkstrider says: Only then will he be suffused with enough energy to be useful for Adarus’ ritual.
She comments after each kill:
Leona Darkstrider says: Good, I wasn’t sure if would take to the lure.[sic]
Leona Darkstrider says: So voracious, I can feel the void energy emanating from it.
Leona Darkstrider says: That’s enough. I’ve prepared an area where we can confront this creature
We gather in the spot she set up to lure Ramon’ta out, by tossing a lure in the spot with three corpses of dead Shadowguard Adepts. This summons Ramon’ta, which you defeat.
Leona Darkstrider says: When you’re ready for a fight, toss a lure in the center there.

Leona Darkstrider says: Thank you, (Your name). I should be able to get all of the Void energy needed for the ritual.
Leona Darkstrider says: Head back to Adarus. I’ll complete the harvest and I’ll be following close behind.
After returning to Adarus, we see Leona reminding him of their deal.
Leona Darkstrider says: I’ve harvested the void essence of Ramon’ta. All we need is the appropriate vessel to store it for the ritual.
Leona Darkstrider says: Don’t forget our pact, Adarus. Once your ritual is complete, you’ll share the secrets of the illidari with us.
Adarus Duskblaze says: Of course, my dark cousin.
Talking to Adarus, he says he wants to do what Illidan did and follow his teachings. He explains how Illidan taught him he must fight without limits, because your enemies will not know them. He wants to use his rage to tame the void, like Illidan did with the fel. He further explains that a fragment from K’aresh, touched by Dimensius, will be the vessel and is held within North Sufaad, and that combining the essence Leona gathered and the teachings of the Void Elves, will make him unstoppable.
Adarus Duskblaze says: Join us in North Sufaad immediately, (Your name).
Adarus Duskblaze says: Or miss out on your chance to be apart of something greater.
After arriving in North Sufaad, we meet Leona and Adarus at the spot of the fragment, which is being contained by pylons. Leona mentions that she has read about these types of containments, and that they will require keys to deactivate.

Adarus Duskblaze says: Perfect, I can feel the energy radiating from it. How do we remove it?
Leona Darkstrider says: I’ve read about similar containments. If we find the keys, we’ll be able to deactivate these devices that hold it in place.
You’re tasked with seeking out the Relictors and getting their keys from them. There’s three Relictors, each with a different key. Relictor Qunash’i with the
Key of the Waning Moon, Relictor Lay’sha with the
Key of the Eternal Night, and Relictor Efrat with
Key of the Dark Sun. The Relictors have thoughts on you trying to take their keys.
Relictor Qunash’i says: Fool! It cannot be controlled, only contained!
Relictor Lay’sha says: Trespasser! The fragment must never be unleashed!
Relictor Efrat says: Your ignorance will be your doom, outlander!
After you return with the keys, you’ll deactivate the pylons containing the fragment using the keys you acquired.
Adarus Duskblaze says: You’re back. Good.
Leona Darkstrider says: I’m prepared to contain the released fragment, (Your name). Whenever you’re ready.

Adarus Duskblaze says: Ah yes, there it is.
Leona Darkstrider says: The power in this fragment is more volatile than I predicted.
After retrieving the fragment, Adarus says he’s ready to fight the shadowguard and any other threats that the void throws at him once he gets the power in the fragment. Leona mentions a cave in the Fracture of Laacuna, the Voidscar Cavern, where the void energies suffusing K’aresh meet. Adarus wants us there to watch his ascension.
Once we arrive, Leona gets us to place the fragment at two locations to align the crystal with the void energies. Aligning the crystal also means fighting off void entities nearby, which will further empower the fragment. After we complete that task, we return to Leona where her and Adarus will start the ritual. You place the fragment over his head, and the ritual begins when Leona channels the essence of Ramon’ta into the fragment. Unfortunately, the ritual goes wrong. Adarus is able to partially infuse himself with the void, but tries to exert his power over it. The cave is almost brought down by this, and you’re forced to push him through the portal. His whereabouts are unknown at the time, though we find out later he’s part of the Soul Hunters Encounter in Manaforge Omega

Adarus Duskblaze says: Do it.
Adarus Duskblaze says: I… I can feel it!
Adarus Duskblaze says: Limitless. All futures are open to me. Within my reach!
Adarus Duskblaze says: What?! Who? So many voices…whispering to me…
Leona Darkstrider says: Do not attempt to exert your will upon it, Adarus. Let it wash over you!
Adarus Duskblaze says: No… you are weak! I can bind it to my will!
Leona Darkstrider says: Don’t be a fool, Adarus. Listen to me!
Adarus Duskblaze says: No, I… ahhhhh!
Leona Darkstrider says: We need to do something!
Leona Darkstrider says: Quickly, (Your name). Push him through the portal, or he’ll bring this cave down around us!
Leona Darkstrider says: His pride almost killed us, (Your name).
After that ordeal, we return to Magister Umbric to give him the story of what happened during the ritual.

Magister Umbric says: Leona! You’re well I see! Did you learn anything from the Demon Hunter?
Leona Darkstrider says: We attempted to infuse Adarus with the Void. He is strong, but there were complications.
Leona Darkstrider says: He was partially successful. Though the backlash of energy of nearly brought down the cavern down on top of us.
Magister Umbric says: I see. Does he live?
Leona Darkstrider says: I believe so. We were forced to push him through a portal, and his current whereabouts are unknown.
Magister Umbric says: What of your experiments? Did you learn the secret to harnessing the Void in this way?
Leona Darkstrider says: I’m getting closer, Magister. The K’areshi fragment is inert, but intact. Given time, or a better teacher, I can master these techniques.
Magister Umbric says: Good. I hope Adarus can forgive us for saving him from his own folly. You did well. Thank you for assistance in this, (Your name).
