Season 3 is going to be amazing!
Today, HoYoverse hosted the Zenless Zone Zero Version 3.0 Special Program, giving us more information about Roscaelifer, the new city that will be our hub for the next chapter of the story, the new agents, gameplay systems, events, rewards, and everything else arriving with Season 3.
There are also plenty of other announcements, including redemption codes, rewards, new content, and more. If you missed out on the livestream, here is a complete recap of everything that was revealed!

Roscaelifer Overview
Roscaelifer plays the role of the foundation that supports New Eridu. And it is also a foundation for the development team as we step into the future. With this city in the sky, the devs really tried a lot of new things.
Every inch of the new area, every new design, and every new change exist only because the devs want to give all Proxies a better experience.
Roscaelifer is also known as the Celestial Nexus. It is located near Minerva Quarter, within the interior of the storm belt, with a geological composition primarily consisting of Flint Porcelloy and some… uncertainties.
In other words, whatever you desire, you can find it in Roscaelifer.
The city is composed of various departments:
- The first department is the Administrative Affairs Department, and at the head of it, you can find Eldreda Sunbringer.
- The second department is the Central Computing Department, led by the administrative director Dracaene Sunbringer
- The third department is the Airspace Patrol Department, led by Lindverne Sunbringer
- The fourth department is the External Strategy Department, led by administrative director Velina Airgid
- The fifth department is Flint Workshop, managed by administrative director Claret Flint, or Ms. Claret, as she prefers to be addressed
Roscaelifer is a classified airspace zone, independent of the urban district of New Eridu. It can be hard to reach the island, but not impossible. And on top of all of this, you have the Bangboo. They play a very important role in Roscaelifer. However, it is best if no unrelated personnel know why just yet.
Once you make it to Roscaelifer, you will be invited to sleep in the Amber Hall dorms as an exchange student. And you are not going alone! Cissia and Billy will each have their own rooms as well.
Amber Hall is located in the area named Booastrum, on the most important main island of Roscaelifer.
As mentioned, the culture in Roscaelifer is completely different from that on the main continent. Here, you can even do things such as head to the assembly hall to watch a whole crowd of Bangboo council members… yes, you read that right. You can even play on a giant chessboard in Emerald Central Park. The city really seems unique and exciting, with a lot of things to discover!
The Story So Far
If you did not finish the current Zenless Zone Zero main story, we advise you to skip reading this part, as it will contain spoilers!
Just as we finished season 2, a few big things happened. One of them was the reveal that Ramiel is, in reality, one of the first-generation Void Hunters named Remielle Dan. We also came across her former Void Hunter weapon, Thaumiel.
When the Proxy touched Thaumiel, the nightmare surrounding Helios Academy, hidden deep within our memories, started to rise to the surface. So what exactly happened back then?
How will the story unfold, and what lies beneath the surface? This is what we will uncover during season 3! Also, why are there 3 Lady Sunbringers? More questions…
The Proxy’s story is a turning point. We either learn to control our mysterious power, or we will risk losing everything… and everyone. To help with this, we had to head to Roscaelifer, where we can get targeted treatment. However, it is unknown if we can really master this strength.
We will, of course, once again cross paths with Remielle in Roscaelifer.
All the answers will be discovered in the upcoming Season 3 story!
New Shops
A few shops are also open in Roscaelifer! After all, you have to get your coffee somewhere!
- Roarin’ Brekkies – draw a daily cookie surprise box. Equivalent of the old lottery tickets
- Tin Master – your usual coffee maestro is also waiting for you to try his new drinks!
- Video Shop – your video store was also moved up to the skies, so you can complete your daily activities in Roscaelifer
Velina
Velina is the Administrative Director of the External Strategy Department (ESD), mainly responsible for coordinating the collaboration between New Eridu and Roscaelifer. Velina also took on the job of managing the Bangboo and their aftercare.
- S-Rank Wind Anomaly Agent
- Phase 1 Banner + Rerun of Ye Shunguang
- By teaming up with various Anomaly Agents, Velina can trigger all-new Anomaly effects and summon Wind Fields to attack. Those Wind Fields are exceptionally effective against groups
- When the Anomaly gauge is full, the Windswept effect is triggered, interrupting the enemy’s actions and dealing massive Wind DMG
- Under the Windswept effect, enemies also take increased direct Wind DMG
- If an enemy is afflicted with both Windswept and other Attribute Anomalies, the Vortex effect will trigger instead of Disorder
- Vortex will not resolve Windswept, only the other Attribute Anomaly
- Vortex deals AoE DMG of that other attribute to nearby enemies
- When your team has two Anomaly Agents or Agents with the same attribute, Velina’s Windswept and Vortex DMG will be additionally increased too
- When Velina triggers Vortex, on-field or off-field, she summons a small Condensed Cyclone and accumulates 1 stack of Windbite
- After accumulating 2 Windbite stacks, Velina summons a larger and far more powerful Sweeping Cyclone the next time she triggers Vortex. Her Vortex DMG multiplier will also increase significantly
- When the Cyclone dissipates, it will trigger an explosion, dealing one instance of Abloom DMG to enemies in the Windswept state
- Cyclones come in different colors. The different colors mean the Chromatic Tint effect has been triggered.
- When an enemy in the Windswept state is first hit by an attack of another attribute, it will trigger the corresponding attribute’s Contamination effect, increasing the direct DMG of that attribute and the Wind attribute
- If Sweeping Cyclone hits an enemy affected by Contamination, the cyclone will be infused with the corresponding attribute and deal that attribute’s DMG, and reduce the enemy’s Anomaly Buildup RES to that attribute and the Wind
- When entering battle or using her EX Special, Velina gains Windbloom
- Hold Basic Attack or Special Attack to summon a Sweeping Cyclone, then swap to other Agents to infuse the cyclone with different attributes
Norma
Normal is the Chief Technician of the ESD. She is a titan in the field of Bangboo technology and an expert at the core of the Marcel Group’s technology hub.
- S-Rank Fire Stun Agent
- Phase 2 Banner + Rerun of Sunna
- Norma can grant teammates additional Chain Attack triggers and can flexibly deploy various missiles, drills, and other weapons to deal massive DMG to enemies and rapidly build up Daze
- Hold Basic Attack and Norma will toss her hat into the air, unleashing a barrage of shots
- When the skill hits an enemy, it triggers the previous Character’s Quick Assist
- When Norma accumulates enough Preheated Chamber, she consumes this special resource to convert a Quick Assist into a Chain Attack
- When Norma enters combat, she gains a certain amount of Preheated Chamber points. The more time she spends in combat, the more she will accumulate
- When Normal is switched off-field, he hat automatically jumps into the battlefield on her behalf to accumulate Preheated Chamber points as well. Once it accumulated enough, it dashes towards Norma
- When Norma throws her hat to attack an enemy and triggers an ally’s Quick Assist, that hat will stay on-field to accumulate Preheated Chambers
- This means that Norma does not need much field time, since her hat helps with accumulating the resource
- Her EX Special releases turrets that shoot missiles at enemies and gain some Preheated Chambers. Holding the EX Special makes missiles shoot longer
Pyrois
Pyrois brings new combat abilities to our Proxy, and on top of that, also provides new exploration methods!
- Official first member of the Phaethon faction
- Given to all Proxy for Free! And on top of that, as events of the story unfold and updates roll out through season 3, all of Pyrois’ Mindscapes and his W-Engine will be given for free as well!
- Spatial movement ability – Pyrois can dash along the Aerial Transit tracks and zip to wherever you need to be in no time. If you take the wrong route, you can control Pyrois to quickly double back. You might also run into obstacles along the way, and in those moments, you need to react quickly and switch tracks to dodge the obstacles
- S-Rank Ether Attack Agent
- Constantly keeping the Proxy safe and away from dangerous situations
- Before combat, you can freely swap between Wise and Belle, as well as change their outfits while in the city, and when Pyrois is in battle, their partner Proxy will change accordingly too. If you play Wise in the city, Wise will be Pyrois’ partner during combat, same for Belle.
- On the battlefield, Pyrois’ sword shifts form depending on the skill being used, and hitting enemies restores Solar Prominence
- When Deciberls reach a certain threshold, the Proxies can select from four different Ultimates based on the situation on the battlefield:
- Total Annihilation – Upper Branch. Pyrois will charge and slash downward, gaining Solar Prominence and entering the Mirage state. While in this state, Pyrois’ Ultimate deals increased DMG to Stunned enemies
- Triumphant Return – Lower Branch. Pyrois will unleash an energy blast and enter the Sunflare state, increasing Energy Generation Rate and DMG dealt. At this point, if an EX Special triggers a Perfect Block, you also recover Solar Prominence
- Unbound Swordstorm – Left Branch. The Ultimate’s heavy attack will deal extra damage to enemies that are in the Contamination state.
- Eternal Imprisonment – Right Branch. Causes Pyrois to channel Energy. When a heavy attack hits a Stunned enemy, it will trigger the Totalize effect, dealing massive DMG and ending the enemy’s Stun
- When there are Stun or Support Agents in the squad, many of Pyrois’ skills will deal higher CRIT DMG, and performing Chain Attacks will also restore more Decibels
New Gameplay Systems
The following new gameplay and content have been added to the game:
- Wishing Well – Toss the bottle cap you got from Roarin’ Brekkies into the well, and something fun might happen!
- Air Bus – Unique transportation in Roscaelifer. If you take it late at night, it might take you to a hidden route
- You get access to select Roscaelifer department facilities, where you can directly control them to solve puzzles or unlock perks. For example:
- Universal Terminal access: You take control of the cameras across the city, and this allows you to catch conversations or secrets that weren’t meant to be discovered
- Take over drones
- Operate Eous and move around
- Aerial Transit – In the new Hollows, some routes are far from each other, and to cross those, Pyrois can dash along the Aerial Transit tracks and zip to wherever you need to be in no time
- Singularity Leakage – overlapping zones in the hollows that you will have to fix
- Dual Parry – In certain fights (especially some boss fights such as Girtablullu), you can trigger a dual parry when you have at least 2 characters with Defensive Assists. You then need to switch characters twice in a row when the yellow light prompt appears to trigger the Dual parry prompt
- Interboo – Compiles all the Proxies’ daily discoveries and exciting finds in one place so you never miss out on anything. It is a new collection system where you can get exploration tips and log all your findings. By completing the Interboo, you can collect many things, such as:
- Pixel Fairy Tale book: Collect all the torn pages and uncover clues about the night bus
- Collect profile information on new characters
- Bangboo Highlight: Follow the latest trending topics and everyday happenings on the island
- Completing milestones rewards Polychromes and more
- Bangbang! The Genius and the Miracle Chip – New permanent standard gameplay mode
- A Bangboo at Aurelia Academy is not doing so well. It might be another one of Norma’s weird experiments causing trouble
- Time to help Norma clean up the mess
- Good thing that there are plenty of Collaboorators willing to help out
- You can collect and upgrade Collaboorators
- You also need to repair and maintain the Central Computing Hub
- You can unlock them through missions or by entering loading codes at the Collaboorator loading Terminal to obtain random Collaboorators
- Duplicates can be spent to increase their rank
- You can then command the Bangboo in Combat training
- Rewards resources, Polychromes, namecards, titles, outfit items, and more
- Has a Daily Quick Clear function to make things easier
- Annihilation Simulacrum – New permanent gameplay mode
- A simulation test devised by the Bangboo
- High difficulty Boss challenges that come in Standard and Extreme modes
- Three bosses available for everyone to experience
- Each boss will have new combat characteristics
- No weakness or resistances for those bosses
New Events
The following events will be available during Version 3.0:
- Celestial Nexus Intelligence Dossier – Exploration event for the new zone
- Bangbang! The Genius and the Miracle Chip – Event related to the new gameplay mode
- Assemble! Mock Exam Comeback Plan – The academy’s top-tier course just hit a zero pass rate catastrophe. Time to bring back the mock exam!
- Rewards a new A-Rank W-Engine, Aurelia
- Tales of the Hobbling Crow – A Bangboo named Hobble, who claims to be a detective, wants to arrest the Proxies. Time to investigate on your side and clear things up!
- Gleaming Shadow Team Battle – Dr. Bang developed the Combat Partner Synergy Test System
- Art Is Bangboo! – All hail Bangboo! We all love Bangboo! The hottest new Bangboo-themed surprise boxes are on sale right now. Go grab some!
- Good Morning, Roscaelifer – Some rookie Bangboo are about to face a series of choices as they start their first job. The Proxy will turn into a career coach.
- This event launches today, so check it out directly!
- Area Patrol and Combat Simulation are coming back as well

Version 3.0 is going to be one of the biggest updates Zenless Zone Zero has received so far. From what we can see, it even looks bigger than season 2 was! Between Pyrois, Roscaelifer, new Agents, new unique gameplay systems, and whatever additional surprises HoYoverse has planned, Season 3 is definitely kicking off an exciting new chapter for the game.
