Heroes of the Storm at BlizzCon 2026

Introduction

As this year’s BlizzCon approaches, let’s take a look at everything that Blizzard prepared for the Heroes of the Storm community.

The event will be streamed online for free during this coming weekend. For more details, check out the official interactive schedule here.

Classic Cup: Legacy Match

The Blizzard Classic Cup is a cross-title team showdown celebrating the rivalries, personalities, and high-stakes moments that define Blizzard esports. Across both days of BlizzCon, legendary players will once again face off—this time under the banners of two captains—competing for pride, legacy, and their share of a 100,000 USD total prize pool.

A curated mix of high-stakes Legacy Matchups and Entertainment Matches will take place throughout the weekend. Every match contributes points to each team’s total. The scoreboard is live all weekend and every match shifts the momentum. At the end of the weekend, the team with the most total points will be crowned Classic Cup Champions.

In particular, Heroes of the Storm returns to the BlizzCon stage with a match that pays tribute to the last time the game appeared at BlizzCon: the 2018 Heroes of the Storm Global Championship Finals, where Gen.G defeated Dignitas to claim the title.

Representing Dignitas will be five players who have competed at BlizzCon before, including four members of the 2018 team:

  • Bakery
  • Jaeben
  • JayPL
  • Wubby
  • POILK

Standing across from them is Gen.G, represented by an all-star lineup of Korean players who have all competed at past BlizzCons, including Kyocha from that title-winning Gen.G squad:

  • Kyocha
  • merryday
  • Sign
  • Dami
  • Frankle

Here are all the Heroes of the Storm casters involved with the Classic Cup:

  • Bahamut
  • Dreadnaught
  • Gillyweed

This part of the event is scheduled for 12 September 12:00 PM PDT or 12 September 21:00 CEST.

Custodians of Legacy Games

Meet the developers and community champions who preserve, support, and celebrate Blizzard’s legacy games for new generations of players.

Keep an eye on this panel because there is a small chance we will meet the legendary janitor and hopefully be able to know more about any future plans for Heroes of the Storm.

The janitor is how the Blizzard community refers to the developers who take care of legacy games like Heroes of the Storm, StarCraft: Remastered, StarCraft II, and Warcraft III.

This part of the event is scheduled for 12 September 2:30 PM PDT or 12 Semptember 23:30 CEST.

Classic Game Deep Dive

Join the team for a closer look at the content and design ideas shaping a classic Blizzard game.

This panel could be interesting for the Heroes of the Storm community because, among other things, they may discuss the game’s current state and their philosophy for updating it moving forward.

This part of the event is scheduled for 12 September 3:30 PM PDT or 13 September 00:30 CEST.
