| Frostbite | Deals Cold Damage over Time |
Frostbite is an effect that applies cold damage over time (DoT) to players or enemies by using certain skills or items.
Frostbite has appeared in past seasonal content (such as Season 8 boss powers), but it is not used by the Sorcerer or Rogue in their normal Cold skill-kits, which instead apply Chill and Freeze.
How to Apply Frostbite
Frostbite can be applied by specific boss abilities, seasonal mechanics, or scripted encounter effects.
Players cannot normally apply Frostbite through skills, passives, or gear.
Here are some examples of Skills or Passives related to the Frostbite Status Effect:
| Class | Skill |
|---|---|
| Sorceress | |
| Rogue | |
| While Channeling a Skill, spawn a beam that deals 300% Frostbite damage per second. Enemies hit take 50%[x] increased damage from you for 1 second. |
How to Recognize Frostbite
Frostbite does not have a unique universal UI indicator, as its appearance varies depending on the boss or seasonal mechanic that applies it.
It generally appears as a cold-themed DoT effect, often accompanied by slowing or area denial effects.
Additional Information About Frostbite
- Frostbite is not part of the core Diablo 4 status effect system.
- Frostbite does not replace Chill, Freeze, or Cold damage over time from class skills.
- The effect may return in future seasonal content, but it is not currently a player-usable mechanic.
