The Tower is a multi-stage, timed dungeon designed for Sanctuary’s most elite players. The Pit drags you downward into endless depths, but the Tower challenges you to climb upward, pushing your skill, speed, and mastery of Diablo 4‘s monsters.

Blizzard plans to expand and refine this mode across future Seasons, and this first version in Season 11 should be viewed as the initial iteration. Player feedback will play a major role in how the mode evolves! This guide will be updated as the mode is adjusted as well.

How to Unlock the Tower

You unlock the Tower after completing Season Rank 2 once Patch 2.5.2 is live. After that, you can access it through the Obelisk in Cerrigar, the same one from which you enter the Pit.

Any difficulty level you have already unlocked for The Pit is automatically available for The Tower. However, the Tower can also unlock difficulty Tiers on its own, so it is not just relying on Pit progression. This means you can push higher Tower tiers independently, even if your Pit tier is lower.

Tower Basics: What You Are Up Against

The Tower is a 10-minute timed gauntlet consisting of multiple randomized floors. Once you leave the starting circle, the countdown begins, and you must clear the entire ascent before the timer expires.

Each floor has its own randomized tile set and monster family, so no two climbs feel the same. The pressure will increase as you push toward the boss.

The Tower is built entirely around the recent monster combat changes, so mastering the updated enemy tactics is important if you want to place on the Leaderboards.

How to Progress Through the Tower

Your goal is to fill the Tower’s progress bar before the timer ends. You do this by killing monsters and collecting Orbs.

Monster score scales with the XP that the monster would normally give, meaning higher-value enemies equal more progress.

On the other side, Orbs drop from:

  • Elites
  • Champions
  • Treasure Goblins

These provide a valuable boost toward your progress bar, so make sure to pick them up!

Pylons and Tower Structures

As you climb, you will encounter destructible Towers scattered around each floor. Destroying one spawns a Pylon that grants a short-term power boost. You will always encounter four Pylons per Tower run:

  • The first three appear in a random order, guaranteeing one of each type.
  • The fourth is a random repeat of one of the previous three.

Use these strategically to keep your pace high during difficult floors.

Boss Fights

Once you have earned enough progress, a random Tower boss spawns. To complete the run, you need to defeat the boss within the time limit. Once you exit the Tower, you can see your score and Leaderboard tier.

Finishing a Tower run is the only way to secure your spot in the rankings. You only appear on the Leaderboards if you defeat the boss and finish the entire Tower run within the 10-minute limit.

Two bosses will not appear in the Tower for now due to inconsistent behavior: the Vampire Wraith and the Fallen Shaman “Sower of Decay”.

Tower Leaderboards (Beta)

With the Tower’s arrival comes the return of official Leaderboards to Diablo 4. This is where the top players compete to prove they are the strongest in Sanctuary.

Your placement is determined by:

  • The highest Tower Tier you complete
  • Your final completion time

Keep in mind that the leaderboard is only in its Beta phase for now as well, and anything can still change in future seasons.

Where to View the Leaderboards

You can check your ranking in two places:

  • At the Artificer’s Obelisk in Cerrigar
  • In the Collections menu

If you disable cross-platform play, your access will be limited to your local platform’s rankings. Leaderboards are also split into Normal and Hardcore.

Leaderboard Categories

Leaderboards are separated into solo class categories as well as group play:

Solo

  • Barbarian
  • Necromancer
  • Sorcerer
  • Rogue
  • Druid
  • Spiritborn

Group Leaderboards

  • Party of 2
  • Party of 3
  • Party of 4

Each ranking includes:

  • Rank
  • Player Name
  • Tier Completed
  • Clear Time
  • Date of Completion

You can filter results by:

  • All Platforms or PC Only
  • Hardcore or Normal
  • Friends
  • Clan

These filters make it easy to compare yourself with your class, your team, or your social circle.

Blizzard has already confirmed that the Tower and its Leaderboards will continue to receive updates in future Diablo IV Seasons. For now, however, the current focus is on introducing the system and gathering feedback.
