All Necromancer Changes Coming in Diablo 4 Season 9 (Patch 2.3.0)

Next up, we are looking at the Necromancer class changes that will go live with the launch of Season 9 and Patch 2.3.0 that’s currently playtested on Public Test Realms!

Necromancer Skill Changes

  • ReapReap: Damage increased from 20% to 50%.
  • HemorrhageHemorrhage: Damage increased from 40% to 80%.
  • DecomposeDecompose:
    • Base damage increased from 60% to 150%.
    • Enhanced Decompose damage increased from 40% to 100%.
  • Bone SplintersBone Splinters: Damage increased from 15% to 30%.
  • SoulriftSoulrift:
    • Removed Barrier effect.
    • Prime Soul Rift bonus damage reduced from 75% to 15%.

Necromancer Passive Changes

  • AfflictionAffliction: Damage bonus now capped at 400%.
  • Ossified EssenceOssified Essence:
    • Essence generation increased by 50%.
    • Bone Skills now scale with current Essence, up to a 100% bonus.
  • ShadowblightShadowblight:
    • Base damage increased from 60% to 200%.
    • Scaling reduced from 100% to 20%.
    • Now scales with Shadow Damage.
    • Bonus capped at 300%.
  • Rathma's VigorRathma’s Vigor: Overpower bonus reduced from 120% to 100%.

Necromancer Legendary Aspect Changes

  • Aspect of Swelling Curse renamed to Aspect of Decaying Humerus:
    • Bone Skills deal Shadow damage.
    • Enemies hit by Bone Skills take 15–25% increased Shadow damage.
  • Of Plunging Darkness:
    • Bone Prison is now a Darkness Skill.
    • Spawns Blight pool for 6 seconds.
    • Blight damage increased by 40–60% while active.
  • Blighted:
    • Now stacks damage per hit from Shadowblight (15–25% per hit).
    • Resets 6 seconds after first hit.
  • Blood Soaked:
    • Trail duration increased from 4 to 8 seconds.
    • Damage per second slightly reduced.
    • Movement speed bonus increased to 30% while active or standing in trail.
    • Reclassified as a Mobility Aspect.
  • Of Creeping Mist renamed to Creeping Cadaver:
    • Now grants 20–40% Movement Speed for 8 seconds after consuming a Corpse.
  • Coldbringer’s: Time between Blizzard casts reduced from 6 to 4 seconds.

Necromancer Unique Item Changes

  • The Hand of Naz (New Unique Gloves):
    • +77.5–100% Skeletal Mage Damage
    • +2–4 to Skeletal Mage Mastery
    • Grants an additional Skeletal Mage for each Minion sacrificed (Warrior/Golem).
    • Skeletal Mages evolve into Arch-Mages after 25 hits without dying.
    • Arch-Mages teleport and deal 50–100% bonus shatter damage.
  • Deathless Visage: Echo damage reduced from 40–80% to 20–40%.
  • Indira’s Memory: Damage bonus reduced from 40–80% to 20–40%.
  • Bloodless Scream:
    • Now affects bosses.
    • After 800 hits with Darkness Skills, fears and freezes nearby enemies.

Necromancer Paragon Changes

  • Bloodbath: Overpower damage bonus reduced from 100%[x] to 40%[x].

Necromancer Bug Fixes

  • Fixed Bone Mages generating echoes from Deathless Visage.
  • Fixed mastery bonuses from Ring of Mendeln and Sanguivor not working if passives weren’t unlocked.
  • Shadowblight now correctly scales with multiplicative Corrupting damage bonuses.
  • Howl from Below now correctly applies the Summon tag to Corpse Explosion.
  • Resolved issues with Book of the Dead upgrades occasionally stopping.
  • Decompose now properly spawns corpses against all enemy types.
