<p>Another year passes in the Sanctuary as we approach the 3rd anniversary of <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/">Diablo 4</a>, and Blizzard has announced the rewards that will be available from <strong>June 2</strong> until <strong>June 9, 2026</strong>.</p>



<p>Starting on June 2, the <strong>Mother&#8217;s Blessing</strong> buff will increase XP earned in both Seasonal and Eternal Realms.</p>



<p>Additionally, the <strong>March of the Goblins</strong> event is back with its reputation board that awards the <strong>Regalia of the Sacred Creed</strong> for completing the final rank.</p>



<p>A <strong>free cosmetic skin</strong> will also be unlocked in the in-game shop each day:</p>

Celebrate Diablo’s Anniversary with Increased XP, March of the Goblins, and Free Cosmetics


<p>There has been a lot going on in Diablo 4 this season. From the release of the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/warlock/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Warlock</a>, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lord-of-hatred-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lord of Hatred</a>, and <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-secret-cow-level-finally-found-the-hunt-is-finally-over/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the Secret Cow Level</a>, there&#8217;s never been a better time for Blizzard to flood the cosmetic store. At the start of the season, Blizzard dropped another Warcraft Legends cosmetic set, and now the Starcraft skins have returned to Diablo 4 as well.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Starcraft Is Back in Diablo 4</h2>



<p>While it&#8217;s likely that the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-adds-new-wow-tier-2-sets-in-warcraft-shop-crossover/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Warcraft cosmetics and Reliquary</a> will stick around for another month, the sudden return of the <strong>Starcraft Legends skins will only be available for 9 days</strong> at the time of writing. So here is another chance to grab Terran, Protoss, and Zerg cosmetics before they vanish back into the void for another unknown amount of time.</p>

<p>These skins will also be available during <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/celebrate-diablos-anniversary-with-increased-xp-march-of-the-goblins-and-free-cosmetics/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo’s Anniversary celebration</a> next week, which also offers free cosmetics, bonus XP, and the return of the March of the Goblins event. But like every new item that comes into the store, there&#8217;s always the concern of criticism for being too expensive. </p>



<p>While the Starcraft &amp; Warcraft skins look absolutely stunning, the selling point of <strong>25$ per skin</strong> is a little too rich for many Diablo 4 players. Even with the second return of Starcraft, many fans were hoping there would have been at least a little bit of a discount.</p>



<p>But what do you think, is the quality of these skins worth the cost?</p>


Diablo 4 Starcraft Skins Return for a Limited Time


<p>One month after the launch of Lord of Hatred, Diablo 4 players have completed the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4s-hatreds-downfall-community-challenge-explained/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hatred’s Downfall</a> Community Challenge and unlocked the Crown of Hatred cosmetic helm.</p>



<p>The challenge was simple, but daunting. Players had to earn 266,600,000 Paragon Points across the Diablo 4 community. Every player contributed simply by playing and earning Paragon progress, regardless of whether they were on the Seasonal or Eternal Realm.</p>



<p>Now, that goal has been reached. Blizzard has <a href="https://x.com/Diablo/status/2059351026277257317" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">announced</a> that players have “successfully brought about Hatred’s Downfall,” and the Crown of Hatred can now be claimed by logging in and visiting the in-game shop <strong>until June 30</strong>.</p>

<p>To put this achievement in perspective, it would have taken 888,667 players all reaching Paragon 300 to unlock this reward. Obviously, most players never reach the pinnacle of Paragon power, giving another indication of just how successful LOH has been in terms of player retention. <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-player-count-explodes-to-new-record-on-steam/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Steam</a> data has shown all-time high player numbers, but those peak at around 60,000. To unlock this helm, there must have been well over a million wanderers grinding Paragon Points over the last month.</p>



<p><a href="https://news.blizzard.com/en-us/article/24267729/prepare-for-the-reckoning-lord-of-hatred-draws-near" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Blizzard describes</a> the Crown of Hatred helm as “imbued with the hate directly from Mephisto.” It’s a huge horned skull helm with black demonic horns and a golden skull faceplate. It’s wearable by all classes and seriously awesome, but it’s only available to claim until June 30, so make sure you grab yours soon.</p>

All Diablo 4 Players Have Earned a Free Cosmetic But Must Claim It Soon


<p>Since Lord of Hatred launched, many players have been spending their time in the new town, Temis, which is a convenient location as all the amenities are close to each other.</p>



<p>One of said amenities, the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/curiosities-guide/">Purveyor of Curiosities</a>, also known as the Obol vendor, has not been granting any Unique items when gambling with Obols. While in previous seasons the vendor has been a source of acquiring Uniques, many players assumed that this was an undocumented change with the newest expansion. However, players have recently discovered that the Purveyors of Curiosities in other towns have a chance to grant you Unique items when spending Obols.</p>



<p>User u/BethanyHipsEnjoyer has reported on Reddit that, after spending several thousand Obols split between the Purveyors of Curiosities located in Temis and Cerrigar, they have received 0 Uniques from the one in Temis while receiving five Unique items from the one in Cerrigar.</p>

<p>While it is unknown whether Purveyors of Curiosities are meant to be a source for Unique items in Lord of Hatred, players who wish to acquire certain Unique items by spending Obols should avoid the one in Temis and instead gamble in any of the other towns. Alternatively, players who are exclusively seeking Legendary items should spend their Obols in Temis, as that eliminates Unique items from the item pool.</p>

<p>Blizzard has notified that the Crafting recipes for Crude, Chipped, and Normal quality gems have been temporarily disabled as they were causing players to crash. While the recipes can still be selected, no gems are actually created, and no gold or materials will be spent.</p>

Diablo 4 Gem Crafting Is Disabled, But Your Materials Are Safe


<p>Patch 3.0.3 will go live for all platforms on May 26. It includes another batch of bug fixes, with Blizzard focusing mainly on War Plans, quests, and issues with items and skills. Several expansion quests have been fixed, including problems with missing bridges, invisible Siege Towers, unreachable bosses, and objectives that could become impossible to complete.</p>



<p>The War Plan fixes are possibly the most impactful part of the patch, with Blizzard addressing infinite boss summons, infinite Goblin spawns, missing Grim Favors from Duriel’s Invasion, and a Pit issue involving Choron’s Soul and Choron’s Flesh modifiers.</p>

Next Diablo 4 Patch Targets War Plans, Quests, and Item Bugs


<p>If you play Diablo 4, you should probably watch the latest video on the Diablo YouTube channel. Not because it’s going to teach you how to create a giga-buffed, “insane,” 10 quadrillion damage build (because it won’t), or because it might teach you the best and fastest new trick to get “insane” amounts of loot (because it doesn’t).</p>



<p>No, what this video will do instead is give you a profound appreciation for the incredible artistry, creativity, and “insane” amount of work that went into creating the music for the Lord of Hatred expansion and, by extension, a greater appreciation for every other technical and creative aspect as well.</p>



<p>It’s something easily forgotten. Most Diablo 4 players probably aren’t paying much attention to the game’s music while tearing through Helltides, blasting through <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/war-plans-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">War Plans</a>, or trying to survive high-tier Pit runs, and that’s completely understandable. Diablo 4 is a game about slaying monsters, loot, builds, damage numbers, and the eternal search for a slightly better pair of pants.</p>



<p>But Blizzard’s latest video is a stirring reminder that beneath all of that grinding and satisfying progression is an extraordinary work of art created by a legion of passionate, talented people.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Music Behind Lord of Hatred</h2>



<p>The mini-documentary follows lead composer Ted Reedy and the Diablo 4 music team as they record the score for Lord of Hatred, including sessions at Ocean Way Studios in Nashville, a converted old church, now used as a recording studio. The orchestral music for Vessel of Hatred was also recorded at this location. The team returned there because of the “amazing results” Reedy says they achieved the first time around.</p>



<p>What becomes clear very quickly is the staggering size of the undertaking. Reedy says the biggest challenge was “the sheer amount of music” needed for the expansion, covering cinematics, towns, world areas, dungeons, scripted sequences, and boss fights. The production involved over 100 musicians from around the world, including vocalists, specialized percussionists, an orchestra in Nashville, and a choir in London.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Creating the Sounds of Skovos</h2>



<p>One of the more interesting challenges for the music team was creating music that evoked just the right tone and feel for the new area of Skovos. To help give Skovos its own identity, the team brought in unique instruments such as the aulos and lyre. The aulos is an ancient Greek double pipe, while the lyre functions almost like a small harp. These were not just decorative choices. They helped define the sound of the region, with the limitations and unusual qualities of the instruments shaping the music itself.</p>



<p>That is the kind of detail that is easy to take for granted when you are rushing between objectives, but watching this video might give you a reason to really stop and smell the roses, or in this case, stop and listen to the evocative interplay between the aulos and the lyre.</p>



<p>The video also shows how much thought went into the vocal side of the score. Apart from the full choir recordings in London, the team also worked with vocalists Úyanga Bold and Asja Kadric to create a mythic language that felt ancient, maritime, and rooted in the history of Skovos. This language then served as the foundation for lyrics. So, while a player may only half-hear these haunting voices while checking their loot, behind that moment is narrative design, research, language work, composition, performance, recording, and mixing.</p>



<p>That may be the biggest takeaway from the video. <em>Lord of Hatred</em> isn’t just a collection of systems, balance changes, endgame activities, and new ways to become absurdly powerful. It’s also a huge creative production, built by artists, musicians, writers, designers, performers, and developers all trying to make Sanctuary feel alive.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Appreciating the Artistry Behind Lord of Hatred</h2>



<p>The closing section of the video really drives this home. Reedy says that in a world where more and more things seem to be AI or computer-generated, this music is real: “A hundred people coming together to make something amazing.”</p>



<p>Players will always talk about balance. They will always argue about the best class, the strongest build and the most efficient way to grind and loot. That’s the gameplay heart of Diablo. It’s what keeps us coming back, and it’s awesome.</p>



<p>But a video like this serves as a reminder that the game also has a tone, a feel and an atmosphere that we love. It has a soul — much more subtle, but perhaps just as important, and that soul is the result of a massive collaborative effort, undertaken by supremely skilled people from all over the world.</p>

<p>So the next time you’re in Skovos, choosing your next set of War Plan activities before teleporting off on your next adventure, why not take a moment to listen, <em>really</em> listen to the music. While you’re at it, you might notice the artistry in the modeling, textures, materials, animations, and particle effects evident in this one single moment.</p>



<p>Then you might consider that there’s an entire world filled with this level of detail and think, “<em>wow, that’s pretty amazing … now,</em> <em>what shall I temper on these pants</em>?”</p>

Blizzard’s New Diablo 4 Video Is a Reminder That Sanctuary Has a Soul


<p>Blizzard has announced the next Sanctuary Sitdown, a live developer Q&amp;A taking place ahead of the upcoming Diablo 4 Patch 3.1 Public Test Realm.</p>



<p>The event will be held in the Sanctuary Discord on <strong>May 28 at 1 p.m. PDT (4 p.m. EDT / 10 p.m. CEST)</strong>. Developers will be on hand to answer community questions about the upcoming PTR and share insights into what&#8217;s coming with Patch 3.1.</p>

Blizzard Announces Developer Q&A on May 28


<p>A new event is now live in Diablo 4. The <strong>Compass to Carnage</strong> event is designed to make the Infernal Hordes more appealing and more rewarding. The event will cause:</p>



<ul>
<li>More Infernal Compasses to drop</li>



<li>More Chaos Waves</li>



<li>More Aether to drop from Chaos Rifts during Chaos Waves</li>
</ul>

<p>The event should come as a welcome surprise to players, especially those trying to fully level up their <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/war-plans-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Warplans</a>.</p>



<p>There has been growing discourse within the Diablo 4 player community, voiced across platforms such as <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1tcs4wl/infernal_hordes_is_the_worst_endgame_activity_by/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Reddit</a> and <a href="https://x.com/rhykker/status/2055358570422583507" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">X</a>, that of all the Warplan activities, Infernal Hordes is the most time-consuming and least rewarding. The Compass to Carnage event should provide a decent incentive to start running Hordes, or at least make leveling them as a Warplan activity feel like less of a chore, and more of an opportunity to earn rewards that match the time invested.</p>

<p>As with all Warplan activities, Infernal Hordes can grow increasingly more rewarding as nodes are unlocked on its progression tree. One node in particular seems to genuinely add value — or at least the possibility of value — to running Infernal Hordes. The <strong>Council Coffers</strong> node will cause a Chest of Talismans to appear after defeating either choice of boss. It only costs 100 Aether to open and will drop a variety of seals and charms. Players have reported that Mythic Seals can drop from this chest.</p>

<p>While the <strong>Compass to Carnage</strong> event is live, it should be quite easy for most players to gather enough Aether to:</p>



<ul>
<li>Summon Bartuc</li>



<li>Open the Council Coffers</li>



<li>Open the Spoils of Greater Equipment</li>



<li>Have plenty of Aether left over to spend on the Spoils of Materials or Spoils of Gold</li>
</ul>



<p>The event runs until May 27.</p>

Diablo 4 Players Have a New Reason to Run Infernal Hordes


<p>The latest round of Diablo 4 hotfixes brings a fix for an issue where Blood Lance dealt more damage than intended under certain conditions. Additionally, it also fixes an unintended interaction between Warlock&#8217;s Eviscerate Fragment and Paingorger&#8217;s Gauntlets, and more.</p>
