<p>Season 12 was always going to be a bit different. Shorter runtime, weird pacing, clearly positioned as a bridge before <strong>Lord of Hatred</strong>. Most players get that.</p>



<p>What they do not all agree on, though, is if the Butcher mechanic should have carried an entire season on its own.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fun at First, Then Not So Much</h2>



<p>Most players agree that the first few runs feel pretty good. New mechanic, different pace, decent rewards. It is a nice change of scenery from the usual grind.</p>



<p>Then, a few hours in, it becomes a different story. Once your build starts outperforming the Butcher transformation itself, it stops feeling like a bonus and starts feeling like something you are forced into for progression. The novelty wears off quite fast.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">This Should Have Been an Event</h2>



<p>That is where the community conversation gets interesting. On Reddit, for example, a lot of players are wondering why the Butcher mechanic is not just a recurring event instead of a full season.</p>



<p><strong>The idea would simply be a limited-time Butcher event, maybe a week or a weekend, popping up every season with exclusive rewards linked to it. A Butcher pet. Themed cosmetics. Something to look forward to.</strong></p>



<ul>
<li>Keeps the mechanic fresh each time it comes back</li>



<li>Avoids the burnout that comes with a full season of it</li>



<li>Gives players a reason to log back in mid-season</li>
</ul>



<p>The &#8220;Fresh Meat&#8221; gimmick works a lot better when you are not doing it for dozens of hours straight.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Concern About Events in General</h2>



<p>This also points to something Diablo 4 players have been saying for a while. <strong>Outside of the occasional collaboration and passive buffs like Mother&#8217;s Blessing, there are just no meaningful events in Diablo 4. </strong>No quests, no exciting mid-season content, no rewards worth coming back for.</p>



<p>A week of intense Butchering with a chance to earn a little Butcher pet that follows you around? Most players would log in for that. Right now, however, that kind of content simply does not exist.</p>



<p>Season 12 is not disliked, but it is bringing up real questions about how seasonal mechanics should be used. If Blizzard ever brings the Butcher back as a limited-time event, the reaction would probably look very different.</p>

Is Diablo 4’s Butcher Better as an Event Than a Full Season?


<p>Blizzard just shared a new short story on the official <a href="https://www.youtube.com/Diablo" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo YouTube</a> channel, and this one is a very interesting story addition.</p>



<p><strong>Narrated by the Oracle Queen, the short story provides a few more details of where Neyrelle stands right now.</strong> She is exhausted and stranded in the Fractured Peaks, her hope slowly giving way to doubt. Meanwhile, Mephisto keeps growing stronger, and she feels every bit of it. When a nightmare pulls her under, a corrupted version of Donan appears and tries to convince her the fight is already lost, that she should just rest and let go.</p>

<p>She refuses. But it does not feel easy.</p>



<p><strong>The short video does not have any new or big plot reveals, but it does a great job building dread around what is coming in Lord of Hatred.</strong> Neyrelle has always been the stubborn, hopeful one in the story of Diablo 4, ever since launch. Watching that start to crack makes Mephisto feel like a genuinely threatening presence again.</p>

<p>With the release of <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/everything-announced-in-the-diablo-4-spotlight-stream/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred</a> on April 28, Blizzard has started to share new details, but this time, the studio has partnered with IGN for a full month of exclusive reveals, with new content dropping daily leading up to launch. </p>



<p>The first one is already live, and it is a new in-game cutscene:</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Cult, a &#8220;Saint&#8221; and Something Clearly Wrong</h2>



<p>The scene opens with what looks like a ritual. A pilgrim is here and is immediately treated as someone important, but before being accepted, they must go through some sort of cleansing.</p>



<p>From there, things quickly take a darker turn.</p>



<p>They speak of past suffering and promise a better future, one linked directly to the authority of <strong>Queen Adreona</strong>, who is openly revered by the crowd. There is a strong cult-like atmosphere here, with chants reinforcing her power and legitimacy.</p>



<p>But not everyone is convinced.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Faith vs Truth</h2>



<p>Tension builds when Lorath appears to warn the Queen that this so-called &#8220;pilgrim&#8221; is actually a demon responsible for destruction elsewhere, but the accusation is immediately dismissed as lies. However, he remains calm, almost theatrical, referring to the situation as a &#8220;stage,&#8221; and that suggests manipulation, or at least awareness of something bigger going on.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hatred Is Not Going Anywhere</h2>



<p>The Lord of Hatred eventually steps in, acknowledging his own role in bringing &#8220;blood and hate&#8221; into the city, manipulating over and over.</p>



<p>And the final message is pretty clear<strong>. Hatred is part of human nature, and this expansion is going to explore that head-on.</strong></p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">More Reveals Coming</h2>



<p>As mentioned before, this is just the start. <a href="https://www.ign.com/videos/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-exclusive-cutscene-the-queen-and-the-saint-ign-first" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">IGN will be dropping new Lord of Hatred</a> content every day throughout April, meaning this cutscene is likely just a small piece of a much bigger picture.</p>



<p>If this first look is anything to go by, the expansion is leaning heavily into themes of faith, manipulation, and moral ambiguity, and that is the root of Diablo 4. It is still early, but this first cutscene already sets the tone.</p>



<p>Between cult-like devotion, conflicting truths, and characters who may not be what they seem, Lord of Hatred looks like it is going for something a bit more unsettling and a lot more psychological.</p>



<p>And with daily reveals coming, we probably will not have to wait long to see how deep that goes!</p>

Diablo 4 Drops First Lord of Hatred Cutscene and the Story Looks Darker Than Ever


<p>You know it is April Fools&#8217; Day when even Blizzard decides to stop pretending to be serious for a minute. For once, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-lords-of-the-fallen-crossover/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> is going all in with an &#8220;April Fowls&#8221; and yes, it is exactly what it sounds like.</p>



<p>There is a giant, angry chicken running around Sanctuary.</p>



<p>And no, this is not a joke. Well… it is, but also not, we do not know&#8230; </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Bawk Bawk Bawk?</h2>



<p>According to the official post (and a very serious 22-second &#8220;bawk bawk bawk&#8221; narration), players thought they could encounter a massive chicken boss rampaging across the world.</p>

<p>So a huge chicken is out for blood, and it is apparently here to ruin your day. From the preview, it even seems like you can earn themed cosmetics.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Real or April Fools?</h2>



<p>Now here is where it gets fishy. No one has yet seen the famous chicken inside the game. So now players wonder: is it just an April Fools&#8217; joke, or is this really happening? </p>



<p>The official description straight up says:</p>



<p>&#8220;<em>No spoils will be earned… only swift death waits for you</em>.&#8221;</p>



<p>So either:</p>



<ul>
<li>It exists, but with no rewards</li>



<li>This thing exists but is meant to be unbeatable</li>



<li>Or Blizzard is just trolling </li>
</ul>



<p>Blizzard has also not given a clear end date or any details on how or where to beat this chicken, so this is most likely just a massive troll. </p>

<p>Honestly, the biggest surprise here would not be the chicken, but the fact that <strong>Diablo 4 is actually doing a fun, random event like this at all</strong>. This is why players are starting to panic at the idea of it not really existing, because for once, we would get a unique event, and that would be more than amazing!</p>



<p>The game has been pretty light on spontaneous content, so seeing something like this with free rewards would be a nice change of pace. And judging by reactions, players are here for it.</p>



<p>A giant killer chicken, nonsense voiceovers, and weapon skins to go with it… This is exactly the kind of chaos the game should bring.</p>



<p>Now the only question is: where is this bawking chicken in the game? If Blizzard trolled, a lot of players will be disappointed, and they are going to have to make up for it!</p>

Sanctuary Faces a New Raging Fowl Beast in Diablo 4


<p>If you have been playing <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-12-best-builds-tier-list/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4 Season 12</a>, chances are you have already felt that Gea Kul is not exactly convenient.</p>



<p>Even after Blizzard <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-12-hub-layout-and-keys-fix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">added a stash and blacksmith nearby</a>, there is still that one annoying part when you teleport to town, and then have to get from the waypoint all the way up to the seasonal shop and reputation board. It is not long, but doing it dozens of times adds up fast.</p>



<p>Well, turns out that you might have been taking the slow route this whole time.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Surprisingly Simple Shortcut</h2>



<p>One <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1s9bxw7/psa_dont_be_like_me_it_took_me_until_now_to/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">savior on Reddit</a> recently pointed out a small trick that completely skips that walk!</p>



<p>It turns out that you can just teleport directly to &#8220;The Broiler&#8221; dungeon instead of the main waypoint.</p>

<p>The Broiler is located right next to the seasonal hub in Gea Kul. When you teleport there, you will spawn inside the dungeon, but if you immediately turn around and exit, you will come out basically right next to the shop and reputation board.</p>



<p>It sounds a bit dumb, but it works, and it is faster than running up the stairs every time.</p>



<p>Before you try it, there are two things to keep in mind:</p>



<ul>
<li>You need to unlock The Broiler first (by progressing the seasonal questline)</li>



<li>If your game has long loading times, this might actually be slower than walking</li>
</ul>



<p>So it is a great solution for most players, but not a universal thing. It is just a tiny trick for those who are too lazy to walk up the ladder every time. If you are constantly checking the seasonal shop or turning in reputation, it will definitely save you some time.</p>

Players Just Found a Faster Way Around Gea Kul in Diablo 4


<p>If you have been pushing endgame in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-how-many-expansions-will-it-get/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> lately, there is a good chance you have had at least one of those &#8220;full health, everything under control, and then suddenly, you are just dead&#8221; moments.</p>



<p>Nothing clearly hit you, you did no obvious mistake, but some vague explosion, overlapping ground effect, or worse, nothing visible at all, still managed to one-shot you.</p>



<p>And judging by recent <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1s758tj/please_no_more_on_death_effects_or_overlapping/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">player discussions</a>, this is not an isolated problem.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Deaths That Do Not Make Sense</h2>



<p>A lot of players are once again calling out on-death effects and overlapping visuals as one of the most frustrating parts of the game. The issue is not necessarily that these mechanics exist, most players agree that the game needs some form of danger, but the real problem is that they are just not visible half the time.</p>



<p>In many cases, multiple effects stack on top of each other:</p>



<ul>
<li>Lingering explosions</li>



<li>Chasing projectiles</li>



<li>Delayed detonations</li>



<li>Environmental hazards</li>
</ul>



<p>When all of that overlaps in a small space or chaotic fights, it becomes nearly impossible to read what is really happening. Some players even report deaths where nothing appears on screen at all, or where the game itself lists the cause as &#8220;Unknown Killer.&#8221; It just leads to frustration and confusion.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Hardcore Players Hit the Hardest</h2>



<p>This problem is not really a problem for normal players, but it does become more noticeable in Hardcore, where a single unclear death means losing everything.</p>



<p>A few players shared stories of:</p>



<ul>
<li>Dying after a dungeon was already cleared</li>



<li>Getting killed mid-teleport to town because of an invisible projectile</li>



<li>Losing characters to effects that triggered seconds after the enemies were dead</li>
</ul>



<p>That kind of experience does not feel like a mistake you can learn from, and it just feels unfair.</p>



<p>As mentioned, the problem that is called out is not the mechanics themselves, but simply the fact that <strong>if something can kill you instantly, you need to see it coming clearly.</strong></p>



<p>Right now, that clarity just is not there. And if you do not know what killed you, you cannot really adapt to it, so right now, it feels like players are not losing to demons, but they are losing to some invisible force of nature. The real question is, are things like this being adjusted for <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4s-warlock-class-lets-you-command-hell-itself/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lord of Hatred</a> or not?</p>

Diablo 4 Players Are Tired of Invisible Deaths


<p>Not every change in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> needs patch notes to be noticed.</p>



<p>Sometimes, players feel it immediately, and right now, a lot of them are saying the same thing: Mythic Prankster runs just are not what they used to be. During Season 11, one of the most fun parts of the game was to manage to find a <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-mythic-prankster-nightmare-dungeon-affix/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Mythic Prankster Dungeon key</a>, run it with other players until you would find and slay the Mythic Goblin, and this little Prankster used to have a ton of loot in his bag.</p>



<p>So either we all robbed him too much last season, or he decided to be a bit more careful with his loot, but one thing is sure: things are not the same anymore.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">From Jackpot Runs to Just Okay</h2>



<p>Last season, Mythic Prankster runs were one of those rare but unforgettable moments. If you got lucky enough to find one, it meant that you would get a guaranteed Mythic Goblin that would drop one <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Quest_MiscTrinkets_11.webp" alt="Resplendent Spark"><span class="tooltip-spell-name" data-item-type="Crafting Material" data-item-quality="normal">Resplendent Spark</span></span></a> and up to 5 Mythic items in a single run.</p>



<p>It was not something you could farm endlessly because keys were still rare, but that is exactly why it worked. When it happened, it felt like a big deal. Something you would call friends for. Now in Season 12, players are reporting a very different experience. Instead of that big reward, runs are now often giving only 1 <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Quest_MiscTrinkets_11.webp" alt="Resplendent Spark"><span class="tooltip-spell-name" data-item-type="Crafting Material" data-item-quality="normal">Resplendent Spark</span></span></a> and 1 Mythic item.</p>



<p>That is a massive drop compared to before, especially considering how rare the affix already is.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">&#8220;They Saw We Were Having Fun&#8221;</h2>



<p>The reaction online has been pretty blunt. A lot of players were <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1s4it6q/was_mythic_prankster_updated_this_season/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">wondering on Reddit</a> why this was even nerfed in the first place, given that it was not something you could farm each day.</p>



<p>One player said, &#8220;<em>They saw we were having fun and said they can&#8217;t have that</em>.&#8221; </p>



<p>It is obviously a little bit exaggerated, but it sums up the general frustration well.</p>



<p>A lot of players are not even arguing that the old version was perfectly balanced. The real issue is that this was not something you could spam anyway. You might see one or two keys in an entire season, unless you were really lucky. </p>



<p>So for many, the nerf does not feel like balance, and it just feels like something fun got nerfed down for no clear reason.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Loot Motivation</h2>



<p>This links back to a bigger problem players keep bringing up in <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/why-diablo-4-season-12-feels-harder-than-previous-seasons/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Season 12</a>: motivation. Several comments point out that:</p>



<ul>
<li>Getting more Mythics actually made them play more, not less</li>



<li>It encouraged experimenting with more builds and alts</li>



<li>It created social moments (guild runs, sharing keys, etc.)</li>
</ul>



<p>Now, with lower drops and rarer appearances, that is mostly gone, and in a game where loot is so important, that is not a small detail.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Test Before Bigger Changes?</h2>



<p>Some players think this might not be random. With the upcoming <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4s-warlock-class-lets-you-command-hell-itself/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lord of Hatred expansion</a> expected to rework a lot of systems, there is a theory that Season 12 is being used as a kind of testing ground for new loot pacing.</p>



<p>If that is the case, this might not be the final direction, but just an adjustment phase or test to see what the best middle-ground would be.</p>

Players Say This Change Killed One of the Best Diablo 4 Loot Moments


<p>Diablo 4 has become well-known for its constant stream of seasonal reworks. Every few months, some major or minor system seems to be on the chopping block. We’ve seen overhauls to <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/nightmare-dungeon-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Nightmare Dungeons</a>, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/capstone-dungeons-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Capstone Dungeons</a>, and even <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/the-horadric-cube-could-finally-fix-diablo-4s-endgame/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">core gameplay features on the horizon</a> with Lord of Hatred. But despite all of these shake-ups, some systems, now <strong>more than 12 seasons old</strong>, haven’t seen meaningful updates. Diablo 4 Customization has been left in the dust, including the armor dyeing system.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Armor Dyeing Needs a Rework</h2>



<p>Customization updates have always taken a backseat to each <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/diablo-4-latest-season/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4 season</a>. While Diablo 4 regularly highlights cosmetic items through shop bundles or the seasonal battle pass, meaningful improvements to in-game customization remain scarce.</p>

<p>Armor dyeing is one of the only ways players can distinguish their characters, yet the system feels neglected. Many players have openly voiced frustration about the lack of new dye colors or improvements. And the concerns don’t stop there, transmogs and armor sets often come up in the same breath.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Will We Ever Get Class-Unique Battle Pass Armor Sets?</h2>

<p>Since the early seasons, players have been asking for class-specific armor sets from the battle pass. <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-battle-pass-model-questioned/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The BP already draws plenty of criticism</a>, but a recurring complaint is that every class receives essentially the same armor, just adjusted to fit each silhouette.</p>



<p>For casual players who stick to one class per season, this may not be an issue. But for those who frequently swap classes or maintain multiple characters, seeing the same armor theme across every class quickly loses its appeal.</p>



<p>Players can mix and match pieces to create unique looks, but it’s often difficult when each battle pass or store set features drastically different themes or art styles. Cohesive fashion is hard to pull off when <strong>nothing is designed to work together.</strong></p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Will Blizzard Ever Expand Dyes, Transmogs, or Battle Pass Variety?</h2>

<p>Whether Blizzard will introduce deeper customization, improved dyeing, or class-unique battle pass sets remains uncertain. But one thing is clear: players want more ways to stand out.</p>

Diablo 4 Customization Criticism Grows After 12 Seasons


<p>If you have recently <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-12-best-builds-tier-list/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">pushed Pit 100 in Season 12</a>, there is a good chance you had the same reaction as a lot of players right now:</p>



<p>&#8220;<em>Wait… why is everything suddenly unplayable?</em>&#8220;</p>



<p>Turns out, you did not mess up your build. You likely triggered one of the weirdest progression spikes currently in Diablo 4.  </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What Is Happening With Sigils After Pit 100?</h2>



<p>So, as we all know, season 12 revolves around <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/you-can-play-as-the-butcher-in-diablo-4-season-12/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">the Butcher</a> and the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-12-makes-bosses-tougher-with-bloodstained-sigils/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Bloodied sigils mechanics</a>, and so far, nothing is wrong with that. However, problems start once you clear Pit 100. After that, the game starts giving you <strong>Bloodsoaked keys</strong> instead of <strong>Bloodstained ones</strong>, and this is where the issues start. Similar to the other version, Bloodsoaked keys can drop as Nightmare Dungeon keys, Infernal Hordes etc. If you still do not see where the problem is, let me lay it out for you:</p>



<ul>
<li>These are way harder than the Bloodstained versions</li>



<li>We are talking roughly +35 level scaling, regardless of your Torment tier</li>



<li>Dropping difficulty does not help</li>



<li>And most builds just are not ready for that jump</li>
</ul>



<p>So you go from cruising content to suddenly getting deleted, even with solid gear, glyphs, and paragon. Even if Pit 100 felt easy, suddenly, your Bloodsoaked keys make it look like you just started to play.</p>



<p>It feels like your character broke, but it is really just the game throwing you into content that is tuned much higher than expected.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">There Is a Workaround Players Are Using</h2>



<p>A lot of players posted about the problem on <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1s3oe7i/just_ruined_my_season_with_the_pit/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">various social media</a>, and one rather simple solution keeps coming up. Basically, you manually &#8220;downgrade&#8221; your keys back to Bloodstained, so back to a playable difficulty.</p>



<p>Here is how it works:</p>



<ol>
<li>Put all your Bloodsoaked compasses in your stash</li>



<li>Create a new alt character</li>



<li>On that alt, get a normal Bloodstained compass (You need to do it with Infernal Hordes compasses, it will not work for Nightmare Dungeons, sadly. This is because Compasses stack, but Dungeon keys do not).</li>



<li>Open your stash and:
<ul>
<li>Take your stack of Bloodsoaked compasses</li>



<li>Move them into your alt&#8217;s inventory</li>



<li>Place them on top of the Bloodstained one</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ol>



<p>The game should automatically convert the whole stack into Bloodstained compasses. Done. Your keys are usable again, and you can transfer them back to your main character. It is basically using how stacking priority works:</p>



<ul>
<li>Stackable items (like compasses) will merge into the &#8220;base&#8221; version</li>



<li>In this case, the Bloodstained one overrides the Bloodsoaked stack</li>
</ul>



<p>It is an easy way to at least unlock Infernal Hordes for you again instead of hitting a wall.</p>



<p>It is unknown if this insane difficulty is intended or not, but the design is questionable. Most players do not mind a spike in difficulty, however, what is called out is the fact that you are basically unlocking harder content automatically with no warning and no way to go back. </p>



<p>This leads to players thinking they have ruined their character or season, when in reality, they just crossed an invisible difficulty line.</p>



<p>A small indicator before you head inside Pit 100 would probably fix a lot of the issues encountered.</p>
