Blizzard has detailed all the major endgame additions coming with the Lord of Hatred expansion for Diablo 4. The update introduces a structured activity system called War Plans, alongside a new “ultra-rare” challenge mode known as Echoing Hatred.
War Plans: Custom Endgame Playlists
One of the biggest additions is War Plans, a system that allows players to create custom playlists of five endgame activities. These playlists can include content such as:

Rather than jumping between activities randomly, you can now structure your own progression route. Each activity within a War Plan also features its own unlockable skill tree, allowing you to modify:
- Enemy spawns
- Rewards
- Activity mechanics
- You can even bring features from one activity to another

Blizzard described the system as accessible for new or returning players. However, it will still offer a ton of optimization options for those who want to maximize efficiency and meta strategies.
Echoing Hatred

Alongside War Plans, Blizzard introduced Echoing Hatred, a new “ultra-rare event”. This mode unlocks when you find a rare drop and features:
- Random enemies that change each time
- An escalating difficulty
- Better loot rewards
From what we have seen, the event seems to function as an infinite-wave survival challenge, designed for those who want to push their optimized builds to their limits. Given its rarity and the way it scales, Echoing Hatred could become one of Diablo 4’s first late-game proving grounds.
What This Means for Lord of Hatred
These systems suggest Blizzard is changing Diablo 4’s endgame toward more structured and player-driven progression. War Plans give you control over how you grind, and Echoing Hatred introduces a high-risk, high-reward activity for those chasing pinnacle content.
More details, including exact rewards, how to unlock and participate, are expected as the expansion approaches release, so stay tuned!
