Diablo 4 Players Can Now Build a Full Sanctuary Battlestation

War Plans is one of the <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1sk38mw/not_a_arpg_veteran_but_already_looking_forward_to/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">most talked-about new systems</a> coming to Diablo 4. So, if you are still wondering what exactly this new endgame grind is before jumping into <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lord of Hatred</a> on April 28th, here is everything you need to know.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What War Plans Are</h2>



The simplest way to explain it: War Plans let you build your own endgame &#8220;playlist&#8221;.



You pick a sequence of five endgame activities, apply modifiers, and then work through them in order. Completing the entire plan rewards you with progression and loot, and modifiers can carry over from one activity into the next.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Finally, Off-Meta Farming Gets Rewarded</h2>



Playing off-meta content like Kurast Undercity or Nightmare Dungeons often feels inefficient right now. Most players focus on the Pit, Helltides, and the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/diablo-4-latest-season/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">current season</a> grind. War Plans are supposed to fix that by giving every endgame activity a progression layer and meaningful rewards, regardless of what you prefer to play.

The core concern is that War Plans are just existing content strung together with modifiers. If those modifiers end up being bland, the system could still disappoint. However, you can opt out of modifiers you do not want, and adding meta progression to existing activities is pretty standard across the genre.



In any case, players will only really know once they get their hands on it on April 28.

What Are War Plans in Diablo 4 and Why Do Players Care?

With <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-season-12-best-builds-tier-list/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Season 12 of Diablo 4</a> nearing its end, a lot of players are changing priorities. Instead of pushing pit or leaderboards, the focus is now on squeezing out as many Mythic items as possible <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">before the expansion arrives</a>.



And one method keeps coming up: Bloodied Lair Boss farming.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fast and Repeatable Loop</h2>



The idea is to simply use Bloodied Lair Sigils to chain boss fights back-to-back, clearing them as fast as possible. If your build can delete bosses in a few seconds, you can jump from one lair to another almost instantly. Some players report gaining a ton of Mythic Uniques and even 4 GA items using this method.



Because each boss drops a large amount of loot, the method turns into a really fast and repeatable &#8220;loot cycle,&#8221; where speed and efficiency matter more than pushing the highest difficulty possible. You basically do this in Torment 1 or 2 to roll over the bosses. 



Keep in mind that Bloodied keys do involve the Butcher appearing, and the boss is 1 or 2 Torment difficulty higher than the one you are in, so it is best not to do it on T4, unless you have a build that can really clear it in a few seconds.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Still RNG at the End of the Day</h2>



That said, not everyone is seeing the same outcomes. For every player getting lucky, others are burning through stacks of keys without seeing a single Mythic drop. Some even say they have had to rely entirely on crafting instead.



In other words, this is not a sudden hidden exploit or guaranteed method, but it is just a very efficient way to &#8220;roll the dice more often.&#8221;



This method allows you to do it faster and do it more often. It is also a good way to simply farm for better rolls on your Unique items and perfect your Season 12 build before the season is over.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Worth It or Not?</h2>



If you have the keys and a build that can clear quickly, it is a fun option to finish the season. After all, we do get a certain amount of those Bloodied Sigils, so might as well make use of them. And you can then tell us if you obtained more Mythic than usual!



Just do not expect guaranteed results, because even now, Mythic farming in Diablo 4 is still very much a gamble, and this does not magically make it easier. It just basically allows you to farm the bosses a bit faster because with the Bloodied Sigils, you can easily jump from Lair to Lair, and you also do not need materials to open the chests at the end, because the gear automatically drops when the boss is killed.

Is This the Best Last-Minute Mythic Farm in Diablo 4?

There is a lot of talk and excitement going around within the Diablo 4 community currently. Especially since the game&#8217;s next expansion, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lord of Hatred</a>, will release later this month, on April 28th. So, it makes sense that players start bringing up interesting questions ahead of Lord of Hatred, such as: with passive skill nodes being removed from the skill tree, does the amulet slot lose what makes it special?



Right now, amulets are one of the most exciting items to chase in Diablo 4. Rolling the right passive with good stats and a Greater Affix makes for a genuinely rare and powerful item, one that many players find even more exciting to find than a Mythic Unique.



The concern is understandable. If passive skill nodes disappear entirely, amulets would simply become another slot with generic stat affixes.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">There Is More to It</h2>



Looking at the Warlock skill planner already <a href="https://d4builds.gg/build-planner/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">available on d4builds.gg</a>, passive nodes do still appear to exist in the new skill tree. What Lord of Hatred is actually removing are Key Passives, the large build-defining nodes at the bottom of the current skill tree. Regular passive nodes seem to still be part of the system.



So the amulet slot losing its identity entirely is probably not the concern it first appeared to be.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Where the Real Frustration Comes From</h2>



However, the overall conversation about what will happen to amulets in Lord of Hatred is still worth having. A lot of players found passive amulet chasing frustrating, with drop rates that felt rarer than Mythics for minimal power gains. The idea of Unique amulets (such as <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><img decoding="async" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DInventory_Amulets_48.webp" alt="Melted Heart of Selig">Melted Heart of Selig</a>) finally getting more time to shine, or the Horadric Cube opening up new ways to craft interesting affixes for amulets in general, is very exciting to many.



Either way, April 28 will answer a lot of these questions.

Players Are Worried About Amulets in Lord of Hatred, But Should They Be?

What type of Diablo 4 player are you? Diablo 4 continues to evolve. With the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-overview/">Lord of Hatred</a> expansion arriving on April 28, Blizzard is once again expanding Sanctuary with new story content, systems, and progression paths. 



But not every player approaches Diablo the same way.



Some return for the story.



Some play casually each season.



Others chase perfect builds and endgame dominance.



And a select group lives entirely on the edge with Hardcore permadeath characters.



PVP has yet to establish a foothold.



Lord of Hatred may appeal to all of them, but in different ways.

For some players, Diablo is about the world itself.



These players return for the campaign, cinematics, and those blue exclamation marker side quests. The lore of Sanctuary, the Prime Evils, and characters like Deckard Cain, Adria, Neyrelle, and Tyrael are the primary draw.



Expansions like Lord of Hatred are the biggest moments for this group.



They may complete the campaign, explore the new zones, and then step away until the next major update. Endgame systems and seasonal mechanics are secondary to the story progression. These players live in the Eternal realm.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Seasonal Casuals</h2>

These players return at the start of each season. They level up, explore a new build, and enjoy character progression.



They may not push the highest Pit Tiers or optimize every stat, but they enjoy the core loop of growth and power.



Diablo 4 continues to add systems and this group benefits from accessibility. Too much complexity, however, can create friction. 



The seasonal casuals are about steady progression and a fresh experience every season.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Min-Max Veterans</h2>

For this group, expansions like Lord of Hatred represent new opportunities.



New classes like the Paladin and Warlock, new endgame mechanics, and new progression systems provide fresh puzzles to solve. Complexity is not the barrier. Complexity is the APPEAL!



These players help define the meta and often shape the community discussions around balance and performance. They are active on reddit and forums. They speak their mind.

I have not forgotten about you. These are the hardcore community.



These players approach Diablo differently. Every decision matters, every fight carries risk, every potential moment of lag is life or death. 



Hardcore players often value survivability over raw damage. They move carefully and plan ahead.



Expansions introduce new dangers. Unknown mechanics and new bosses create real tension.



For Hardcore players, Diablo is at its best when the stakes are the highest.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Growing Challenge for Diablo 4</h2>



Blizzard faces a familiar Diablo challenge.



How do you balance a game for all these types of players?



Story-focused players want meaningful narrative content. Casual players want accessibility. Veterans want complexity and depth. Hardcore players want risk and consequence. 



With Lord of Hatred arriving April 28, Diablo 4 will expand.



The question is no longer whether Diablo 4 will evolve.



It is how Blizzard continues to balance Sanctuary for all of us who call it home.

Lord of Hatred Hits Different Depending on How You Play Diablo 4

The Lord of Hatred expansion looks set to bring many changes to Diablo 4 that players have long-desired. However, while some features such as loot filters and the overhauled endgame have been described in some detail by Blizzard, one burning question hasn’t been specifically addressed:



Will [insert your favorite class here] finally get a wide range of genuinely powerful builds to choose from?



If you put Paladin in those brackets, the rest of the question doesn’t make sense, because Paladin players <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/paladin/builds/">already </a>have a wide variety of S-Tier builds to choose from. For the other classes it’s been a different story for some time. During Season 12, for example, if you’ve been playing any class not called Paladin, you’ve had very few truly powerful builds to choose from. In some cases, you only had one.



While the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/rogue-feels-left-behind-in-diablo-4-and-players-hope-expansion-fixes-it/">frustration of Rogue players</a> has been perhaps the loudest and most justified recently, other classes also face limited options when it comes to pushing the hardest endgame content. Want to dominate as a Druid but don’t like Pulverise? Too bad. Love Sorc, but really want to create a frost-focused build? Have fun topping out your pit-pushing about twenty tiers lower than a Pally.



Obviously, some players are happy to play builds that they just find fun, knowing that they won’t be crushing Diablo 4’s hardest content. Others choose to pick from the slim selection of top meta-builds each season so they can really push.



The Paladin has come along, leaned on his gleaming shield, raised an eyebrow, and asked the question — why not both?



Why not have close to ten varied viable builds to choose from instead of one or two?



With the introduction of the Paladin, Blizzard has demonstrated that they’re capable of creating a class that has numerous S-Tier builds based around different skills and playstyles. They did this to a lesser extent with the Spiritborn when Vessel of Hatred launched, but now they’ve really raised the bar.



But will that bar be met with the release of Lord of Hatred?



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What We Know So Far</h2>

As part of the pre-expansion hype, Blizzard is promising more depth and complexity than ever before for customizing builds. We know that the skill tree is being completely overhauled. We know that we’re going to be able to modify skills in new ways (like making the Sorcerer’s Hydras deal frost damage), but will this result in a wide range of fun S-Tier builds for every class? Or will we just have more varied and creative ways to create builds that ultimately underperform?



In the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNUsgqRKQoI&amp;t=25s">Diablo 30th Anniversary Spotlight video</a>, Diablo 4 Associate Game Director Zaven Haroutunian said, ‘these updates will completely refresh how you build your power, your way,’ allowing you to ‘refine the build that’s most fun for you.’ Game Director Brent Gibson went further, saying, ‘we’re not leaving any class behind.’



This sounds promising, but until Lord of Hatred is released on April 28th, we can do nothing but hope that all classes are given the Paladin treatment and are blessed with numerous viable endgame build choices.

Every Diablo game has had a defining expansion. Not just adding content, but fundamentally improving the game. Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred may be looking to the past to look forward.

Many of the systems being introduced in Lord of Hatred suggest that Blizzard is aiming for more than just new content. Instead, this expansion is focused on deeper progression, improved itemization, and more meaningful endgame systems. For the veterans out there, you might recognize the same kind of changes that helped define previous Diablo titles.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lord of Destruction Changed Diablo 2</h2>



When Lord of Destruction launched in 2001, Diablo 2 was popular, but the expansion took it to another level.



Lord of Destruction introduced:

<li>Two new classes (Assassin and Druid) </li>



<li>A full new Act (Act V)</li>



<li>Charms and deeper character customization</li>



<li>Expanded itemization and runewords</li>



<li>New endgame farming opportunities</li>

These are the changes that helped turn Diablo 2 into the long-lasting ARPG that players still return to today. The expansion gave depth, more build variety, and more reasons to keep playing. 



More importantly, Lord of Destruction gave us long-term progression goals. This became a core part of Diablo&#8217;s identity and ARPGs moving forward.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Reaper of Souls Saved Diablo 3</h2>



Meanwhile, history repeated itself with Reaper of Souls. 



At launch, Diablo 3 struggled with several major issues such as:

Each Diablo expansion that reshaped its game was focused on the same core idea: deeper progression and stronger endgame systems.

In case you missed it, <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/skovos-fishing-and-warlock-gameplay-revealed-in-diablo-4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">IGN shared another gameplay video</a> for <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred</a> recently, showing off fishing in Skovos for the first time, and while the activity itself is fun to watch, one detail in the footage is worth paying extra attention to.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Fishing Rewards in Lord of Hatred</h2>



From what was shown, fishing seems to reward a mix of white, blue, and potentially legendary quality items. In IGN&#8217;s video, the player fishing in lava pulled out what appeared to be a legendary or unique quality drop, which already makes the activity more interesting than a simple side distraction.

What was also interesting is that enemies nearby during the fishing sequence did not seem to interrupt the player. Whether that is intentional protection or just how the fishing encounter was set up is not clear yet.



It might not sound that exciting at first, but here is where it gets interesting.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Horadric Cube Might Change Things</h2>



Lord of Hatred is bringing back the Horadric Cube as a gear manipulation system. Players can use it to add affixes, remove unwanted stats, and transform items into stronger versions, including upgrading white and blue items into legendaries and potentially even uniques.



That changes how you look at fishing rewards entirely. What looks like vendor trash at first could actually be raw material for crafting. Whether fishing specifically feeds into the Horadric Cube in a meaningful way is not confirmed yet, but the pieces are there, and it is hard not to connect the dots.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">New Currency and Special Rewards</h2>



There is also another possibility worth considering. Different fish rarities could point toward a collectible system, where each fish acts as a form of currency. White fish might give less of it, blue and higher rarity fish more. That currency could then be spent at a specific vendor in exchange for gear, cosmetics, or other rewards.

Either way, the fact that rewards already seem to scale depending on where or how you fish makes the system feel like it has more depth than it first appears.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">This Could Be a Bigger System Than It Looks</h2>



Fishing in lava, white items potentially turning into legendary or unique items through the cube, and a minigame you can hotkey outside the emote wheel. It seems like a small, fun system at first, but it could end up being a surprisingly useful part of the endgame loop in Lord of Hatred.
