Blizzard just ended their latest Diablo 4 Developer Update livestream, giving players a closer look at what is coming next for the game.

During the livestream, the developers talked about the Warlock’s origins as a demonologist linked to the Vizjerei, why they went with those visuals, and more! They also showed off some of the class’s abilities and overall playstyle. On top of that, the team also shared more details about Season 12.

You can take a look at the Lord of Hatred recap panel:

Here is a quick recap of the biggest information from the stream.

The Warlock’s Backstory

The Diablo 4 Warlock stands “fully unleashed at the heights of their strength.” He is not a clean hero, not someone who will throw fireballs from a safe distance and walk away with no scratches. He is a “dark caster who made a very conscious decision to use demons as tools”.

The Warlock emerges from the shadows as someone shaped by the dark legacy of the Vizjerei, haunted by demons, burdened, and feared by pretty much everyone.

If you choose to become a Warlock, you will sit on the fine line between a Hero and something a little more dangerous. Warlocks want to save Sanctuary, but they realised they had to do things no one else wants to do in order to do so.

The devs really tried to portray this not only in the backstory, but also in the Warlock’s gameplay, in the way they move and fight. Warlock can take a hit and hit back in ways that we have never seen before.

Warlock Abilities Overview

The skills have also been crafted with more “aggressive shapes and relentless motion”. You will always have a sense of chaos barely held in check.
