Diablo 4 Season 15 Brings Back Deckard Cain and All Three Prime Evils

Diablo fans have been patiently waiting for news about the upcoming Season 15. During the Diablo segment of BlizzCon, Blizzard finally revealed the season’s theme and start date.

Season of Hell’s Legacy begins rolling out on September 15, bringing back one of the franchise’s most iconic and beloved characters: Deckard Cain.

Described by Blizzard as a tribute to Diablo’s most memorable characters, foes, locations, and loot, the new season celebrates 30 years of the franchise. With the season celebrating Diablo’s history, bringing back Cain feels like a natural choice.

In Season 15, Cain’s lost soul returns to help players redeem the dark wanderers from the torment of the Prime Evils. The most famous Dark Wanderer is Aidan, the canonical Warrior protagonist of Diablo 1 and the son of King Leoric, better known as the Skeleton King.

At the end of the original game, Aidan seals his fate by driving Diablo’s soulstone into his forehead, hoping to contain the demon within himself. In Diablo 2, he appears as the Dark Wanderer, gradually succumbing to Diablo’s influence before transforming into the Lord of Terror. Whether the seasonal storyline will let us encounter Aidan remains to be seen, but the premise raises possibilities for revisiting his tragedy.

Another major draw is the promised confrontation with Diablo, Baal, and Mephisto. Players will face all three Prime Evils and reclaim splinters of their souls, gaining access to a portion of their power. However, that power comes at a cost, with Blizzard teasing a steep price for accepting these demonic gifts.

With returning characters, familiar locations, and iconic loot, Season of Hell’s Legacy looks set to draw heavily on the series’ history. We’ll soon see how those elements come together when Season 15 begins on September 15.
