Both are worth understanding before you get too deep into the endgame, so here is a quick breakdown of each.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Horadric Cube</h2>



<p><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/horadric-cube-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">The Cube</a> is essentially a <strong>powerful crafting tool that gives you direct control over your gear. </strong>You can add affixes, reroll stats, upgrade item rarity, transfigure Legendaries and Uniques, and even craft Unique Charms from existing gear. <p>Neyrelle has died. She was young. She was far too young.</p>
<p>Born in Sanctuary to her mother, Vhenard, whose fate would become one of the earliest wounds she carried, Neyrelle showed an early interest in the work of the Horadrim. She read everything she could find on the original Horadric Order and on the fragments of lore passed down through the generations who studied Sanctuary’s greatest threats.</p>
<p>She was the kind of child who read books that bored other children. Those who knew her then might say she was sharp-tongued long before they would call her brave, but in the end, that tenacity would define her.</p>
<h4>A Scholar in a World That Didn’t Want One</h4>
<p>By all rights, Neyrelle should have lived a quiet life. Sanctuary, as ever, had other plans.</p>
<p>When the Daughter of Hatred, Lilith, returned to shatter any remaining illusion that the world was a safe place to be young, Neyrelle found herself drawn into a conflict that should have been somebody else’s problem. She met the Wanderer, and together they chased the shadow of Lilith across every miserable corner of Sanctuary.</p>
<p>She was almost always the sharpest in any room she entered, and in a world where the primary form of conflict resolution is a mace to the skull, Neyrelle knew the cost. She persisted anyway.</p>
<h4>The Choice</h4>
<p>Neyrelle will be most remembered for the decision she made that helped bring an end to the fight against Lilith. With Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred himself, trapped and afraid of Lilith taking his power for her own, Neyrelle understood that of the two evils laid bare before her, he posed the greater threat to Sanctuary. She chose to bind him within a soulstone and to carry it.</p>
<p>Not to wield it. Not to destroy it. <i>To carry it, hide it, and contain it.</i></p>
<p>She believed she could resist his corruption. She believed her will, her intellect, her stubborn refusal to be anyone other than herself, would be enough.</p>
<p>In the words of Lorath, from his own writings:</p>
<p><i>“There can be no doubt of your strength and your goodness.<br />
You are still Neyrelle.<br />
You are something more than Horadrim.”</i></p>
<h4>Into Nahantu, and What Was Lost</h4>
<p>Neyrelle traveled to Nahantu alone, the soulstone pressing against her like a second heartbeat. One that both whispered and screamed Mephisto’s influence. Those who encountered her during this period reported a young woman visibly fraying at the edges, exhausted, but still moving forward.</p>
<p>The Wanderer found her again. And together they fought through the horrors of Nahantu, through corruption that turned the land itself against them, through the slow realization that some burdens cannot be borne indefinitely, no matter how stubborn the bearer.</p>
<h4>Manner of Passing</h4>
<p>The specifics of Neyrelle’s death are, at the time of this writing, still rippling through the people of Sanctuary. Out of respect for those still processing the events, and for any wanderer who may be arriving late to the story, we will say only this:</p>
<p><i>It mattered. She made sure of that.</i></p>
<h4>She Is Survived By</h4>
<p>Neyrelle is survived by a Sanctuary that still fights her fight, despite her ultimate sacrifice. Those who loved her most take quiet comfort in the thought that, at the end of all her wandering, she has been reunited at last with her mother, Vhenard.</p>
<h4>In Memory</h4>
<p>In memory of Neyrelle, we urge you to light a candle and sit with the knowledge that a young woman chose to carry the thing that broke her, so that Sanctuary would not have to.</p>

<p>It recounts Neyrelle&#8217;s journey from a curious scholar to one of the main figures in Sanctuary&#8217;s fight against Lilith, highlighting her defining decision to bind Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred, within a soulstone and carry it herself.</p>



<p>Not to use it, but to contain it.</p>



<p>That choice, already known to players, is reframed here as the beginning of an inevitable descent.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Story About Burden and Its Limits</h2>



<p>The tribute emphasizes something the base game only hinted at: Neyrelle&#8217;s belief that she could resist corruption through sheer will.</p>



<p>According to how Blizzard framed it here, that belief did not hold.</p>



<p>Her journey into Nahantu is described as a slow unraveling, with the influence of Mephisto growing heavier over time. Reports within the text describe her as exhausted, fraying, but still pushing forward, refusing to give up even as the burden became unsustainable.</p>



<p>Blizzard deliberately avoids detailing the exact circumstances of what happens next.</p>



<p>But the conclusion is unmistakable.</p>



<p>What makes this post stand out is how direct it is, because Blizzard is not teasing or hinting, and it is framing the expansion around loss, sacrifice, and the cost of trying to control something that was never meant to be contained.</p>

Blizzard Teases Story Developments With Character Tribute Post


<p>In the final <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccdunTHbMuc&amp;t=2981s">live</a><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccdunTHbMuc&amp;t=2981s" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">stream</a> before the Lord of Hatred launch, Diablo 4 developers delivered an absolute deluge of information about the many changes and additions coming with the latest expansion. Based on a single viewing, it would be easy to focus on the big shiny additions such as the two new classes, sweeping changes to the skill tree, or crafting with the Horadric Cube. While these keynote features understandably took up the majority of the presentation, the developers also rattled off a list of quality-of-life features which — when all added together, could have a surprisingly profound impact on the Diablo 4 experience.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Small Changes. Big Impact</strong></h2>



<p>“Lord Zir is now only one click away on the world map.”</p>



<p>That was it &#8211; the entire quote and the only mention of this change in the livestream. There wasn’t really anything else to say about it. However, this tweak, while fairly inconsequential by itself, is representative of a crystal-clear design philosophy the Diablo developers had for LOH.</p>



<p>During the livestream, Diablo 4 Associate Game Director Zaven Haroutunian said, “endgame in Diablo 4 should feel continuous; no stopping, no waiting, no friction between what you want to do and how you want to do it.” It seems that this philosophy wasn’t exclusive to the endgame, but was applied to the entire gameplay experience.</p>



<p>Having to click on two icons instead of one to reach Zir is a minor annoyance, but an annoyance nonetheless, and one that players have endured for a long time. The fact that Blizzard has removed this minor pain point speaks to a refreshing commitment to make Diablo 4 as free from needless irritation as possible.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Lair Bosses</strong></h2>

However, it must be mentioned here as a QoL feature long-desired by the Diablo community. The customizable filter will make the drops that matter to you instantly stand out. Again, it’s a feature designed to remove an aspect of the game that&#8217;s always felt like a chore.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Stackable Items</strong></h2>



<p>This is arriving at exactly the right time. With the introduction of the Horadric Cube and Talismans, Diablo 4&#8217;s itemization looks set to become more complex, a fact that’s had some players <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1ssl5og/are_we_back_to_inventory_management_hell_again/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">quite worried</a>.</p>



<p>The developers addressed this concern head-on. Stack sizes have been increased to 1,000. Underutilized runes have been removed, and remaining runes now fit cleanly into the socketables inventory. Diablo 4 Game Designer Colin Finer also said, “one of the changes that we made was essentially to reduce and remove incense and elixirs. We felt like it was one of those really annoying uptime games that just wasn’t super fun.”</p>



<p>Are we noticing a theme?</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Map Overlay &amp; Pathfinding</strong></h2>



<p>Navigating Sanctuary will be easier than ever, with Blizzard finally adding a <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/players-finally-get-back-the-feature-diablo-4-should-have-kept/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Map Overlay</a>, as well as a new Pathfinding option.</p>



<p>The overlay will be adjustable. Players will be able to change the opacity, color, and zoom level on the fly.</p>



<p>Activating the Pathfinding tool will draw your chosen route along the ground as you head for your destination.</p>



<p>No more constantly staring at the minimap as you race towards a World Boss or navigate a dungeon.</p>



<p>Another annoying part of the game … gone.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>And the List Goes on</strong></h2>



<p><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/war-plans-are-changing-diablo-4-endgame-forever/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">War Plans</a> have already been covered in detail, but of particular note when focusing on QoL improvements is the fact that players will be able to teleport directly from one activity to the next.</p>



<p>In the Pit, death and resurrection penalties have been removed. Boss shadow attacks are gone, and bosses will now spawn directly on players.</p>



<p>The new Build Viewer captures a snapshot of every build that ranks on the leaderboard for The Artificer’s Tower, allowing players to easily see which builds are performing best in tower competition.</p>



<p>Everything, it seems, is about removing friction, about making the Diablo 4 experience smoother, more seamless and, most importantly, more fun.</p>

Lord of Hatred Just Killed Diablo 4’s Worst Little Annoyances


<p>Blizzard&#8217;s latest livestream for the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-lord-of-hatred-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4: Lord of Hatred expansion</a> revealed a lot of changes, including the long-awaited class changes, with full skill tree overhauls coming to every class at launch.</p>



<p>The focus was mostly on <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/druid/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Druids</a> and <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/necromancer/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Necromancers</a>, who seem to have gotten extra love, but <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/rogue/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rogue</a> still received a handful of updates, and they might be more impactful than they look at first glance.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A New Skill Tree Philosophy</h2>



<p>With Lord of Hatred, every class in Diablo 4 is getting a redesigned skill tree built around flexibility rather than rigid paths.</p>



<p>Active skills now sit at the center of builds, each with three upgrade branches that unlock as you level. Players can pick one modifier per branch, with the final tier offering &#8220;Bonus Skill Variants.&#8221; Basically, those are more build-defining effects, and a lot of them used to be Legendary Aspects.</p>

<p>At the same time, traditional passive nodes are being moved out of the tree and redistributed into gear like Aspects and Uniques. The result is a system where your core abilities matter more, and scaling them directly becomes the main way to define a build.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Rogue Changes</h2>



<p>Rogue did not get a long list of showcased changes, but the few that were revealed point toward something important: more viable playstyles beyond the usual meta.</p>



<p>One of the biggest changes is to <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Dance of Knives" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Rogue_259.webp" alt="Dance of Knives"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Dance of Knives</span></span></a>. It is now a Core Skill that drains Energy over time, and that alone changes how the skill fits into rotations.</p>



<p>But the real change comes from its new variant:</p>

<p>This basically means the skill gets the grenade tag, and that was something that was not really competitive before. It opens up new synergies with gear and modifiers linked to that category.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Shadow Builds Are Improved as Well</h2>



<p>Blizzard also showed a couple of new Shadow-focused variants that could bring back underused skills.</p>

<li><strong>Sentry (</strong><a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Shadow Clone" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Rogue_111.webp" alt="Shadow Clone"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Shadow Clone</span></span></a> variant) basically turns <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Shadow Clone" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Rogue_111.webp" alt="Shadow Clone"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Shadow Clone</span></span></a> into a Marksman Skill and summons up to 3 stationary shadows that act like turrets and kill all surrounding enemies</li>

<p>The Sentry change is really nice. Instead of a temporary copy, you are now placing persistent damage sources with multiple charges and reduced cooldown, allowing up to three clones active at once.</p>



<p>That is a completely different playstyle that can definitely open up new builds!</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Step Away From One-Builds?</h2>



<p>Right now, Rogue players mostly gravitate toward a handful of dominant builds, with <a class="icy-gtnbrg-link" href="#"><span class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip"><img decoding="async" data-tooltip-name="Death Trap" class="icy-gtnbrg-tooltip-img" src="https://static.icy-veins.com/wp/static/d4/latest/images/icons/2DUI_Skills_Rogue_237.webp" alt="Death Trap"><span class="tooltip-spell-name d4-text">Death Trap</span></span></a> often feeling like the only efficient option unless you are willing to invest significantly more effort for less return.</p>



<p>These changes do not guarantee that the meta will change, but they do suggest Blizzard is trying to break that pattern. And of course, those small changes are not the only ones for Rogue! Keep in mind that those are just the short examples they showed during the stream, but every single skill will have new variants, and this means that you will be able to experiment for a while with all the new possibilities!</p>



<p>At the very least, Rogue might finally get more than one way to play without feeling like you are fighting the system.</p>

Rogue Gets New Options in Diablo 4 Lord of Hatred


<p>Blizzard added a genuinely useful navigation feature that will be coming with <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lord-of-hatred-overview/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Lord of Hatred</a>, and which, quite frankly, did not get enough spotlight during the developer reveal stream yesterday.</p>



<p><strong>Pathfinding is going to be a new mechanic coming to Diablo 4! </strong></p>



<p>Turn it on and the game draws your route directly to your destination on the new map overlay, so you always know where you are going without having to constantly check your minimap. It is completely optional, so <strong>if you prefer navigating the old way, nothing changes for you.</strong></p>

<p>It also works with the new map overlay system, which gives you a broader view of the game without the minimap getting in the way. Pathfinding basically just adds one more layer of convenience on top of that.</p>

Diablo 4 Players No Longer Have to Stare at the Minimap to Navigate


<p>The new <strong>Diablo 4 El’druin Mythic</strong> unique sword has finally been revealed, and it already looks like one of the biggest item teases in <em><a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/lord-of-hatred-overview/">Lord of Hatred</a></em>. Between its strong effect and its ties to Tyrael, this is one Mythic players will be watching closely.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">El’druin Is More Than Just Another Mythic</h2>



<p>From a gameplay perspective, El’druin looks like the kind of Mythic Diablo 4 has needed for a while. Based on the Reddit <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1sttyfm/new_mythic_in_lord_of_hatred_expansion/">preview making the rounds</a>, the sword appears built around a powerful cooldown effect that immediately drew comparisons to the <strong>In-geom</strong> from Diablo 3. That is a big deal, because cooldown reduction is one of the stats that can completely change how a build feels. If El’druin works the way players hope, it could push certain mobility skills, buffs, and high-impact abilities into near-constant uptime.</p>

<p>But what makes this reveal hit differently is the name attached to it. El’druin is not just some holy blade. It is Tyrael’s sword.</p>

<p>That is why this item reveal feels bigger than normal. A powerful Mythic is one thing. A powerful Mythic tied directly to one of the <strong>most important figures</strong> in Diablo lore is something else entirely. The moment players saw <strong>El’druin</strong>, the conversation stopped being just about stats and started becoming about story.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Lord of Hatred May Be Teasing Something Bigger</h2>



<p>Blizzard has not said Tyrael is returning. But putting <strong>El’druin</strong> into the spotlight is the kind of move that naturally gets players wondering if <strong>Lord of Hatred</strong> is building toward something more. Even if the sword ends up being just a game play version of the artifact, it still reopens one of the biggest unanswered questions in Diablo 4 lore.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Mystery May Be More Exciting Than the Item</h2>



<p>That is what makes El’druin such a compelling reveal. It is not only a Mythic that looks worth chasing. It is also a lore hook. And right now, that hook is simple: if we have Tyrael’s sword, then where is Tyrael?</p>

Diablo 4 Just Revealed El’druin, and This Mythic Looks Huge


<p>After years of player requests, Diablo IV is getting one of the most anticipated quality-of-life features in the ARPG genre: a built-in <strong>Loot Filter</strong>. Arriving with the <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccdunTHbMuc">Lord of Hatred expansion</a>, this system lets you hide, highlight, or recolor gear drops so you can focus on what actually matters for your build.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">What the Loot Filter Does (and Doesn&#8217;t) Cover</h2>



<p>The Loot Filter applies to gear items that drop in the world, sit in your inventory or stash, or appear on vendors. It does <strong>not</strong> affect non-gear items like Temper manuals, crafting materials, gems, or currency. </p>



<p>This distinction matters. With Magic and Rare items now appearing in Torment-level difficulties to serve as crafting bases, this system is specifically aimed at the gear firehose that endgame Diablo IV throws at you. </p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Building a Filter</h2>



<p>You&#8217;ll find the Loot Filter under <strong>Options &gt; Gameplay</strong>. There&#8217;s also a toggle to add a Loot Filter shortcut directly to the Game Menu, which carries across all characters on your account. </p>



<p>Creating a filter is a layered process: filters contain rules, and rules contain conditions.</p>



<p>You start by clicking <strong>New Filter</strong> and giving it a name. From there, you can add <span style="margin: 0px;padding: 0px">up to&nbsp;<strong>25 rules per filter</strong></span>. Each rule then needs at least one condition telling it what to look for.</p>



<p>You can save multiple filters, but only one can run at a time. Individual rules within a filter can also be toggled on or off without deleting them, which is handy if you want a single filter you can adjust for different farming goals rather than rebuilding from scratch.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The Three Rule Types</h2>



<p>Every rule does one of three things:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Hide Text Label/Hide All</strong>:&nbsp;Hidden items will show no text and cannot be picked up unless the condition is turned off or the Loot Filter is toggled off. Hidden item types still appear in your inventory, stash, or on vendors.</li>



<li><strong>Recolor:</strong>&nbsp;Change a defined item’s text to make it stand out when it is dropped, in your inventory/stash, equipped, or available on a vendor.</li>



<li><strong>Show:</strong>&nbsp;Used to override other Hide conditions within the same filter. Show is the default state, so it doesn&#8217;t need to be defined except to overrule a Hide condition.</li>
</ul>



<p>Rules apply <strong>top-down</strong>, meaning a rule higher in the list overrides anything below it. This is the key detail for building filters that actually work as intended.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">The 10 Conditions</h2>



<p>Conditions are where the system gets truly powerful. You can filter based on:</p>



<ul>
<li><strong>Item Power Range</strong>. Minimum/maximum power thresholds.</li>



<li><strong>Item Rarity Match</strong>. Common, Magic, Rare, and so on.</li>



<li><strong>Item Properties</strong>. None or Ancestral.</li>



<li><strong>Codex Upgrade Check</strong>. Whether a Legendary Aspect would upgrade your Codex of Power.</li>



<li><strong>Greater Affix Check</strong>. Items with 1 to 4 Greater Affixes.</li>



<li><strong>Item Type Match</strong>. Specify slots like Sword, Staff, Chest, Gloves, and more.</li>



<li><strong>Has Required Affixes</strong>. Affixes the item must have.</li>



<li><strong>Has Optional Affixes</strong>. &#8220;Nice to have&#8221; affixes.</li>



<li><strong>Is Specific Unique</strong>. Target specific Uniques or Mythics.</li>



<li><strong>Talisman Set Bonus</strong>. Filter for specific Set Charms from the new Talisman system.</li>
</ul>



<p>Class-specific options like Uniques and Talisman Set Bonuses only display for the class you&#8217;re currently on, but alts from other classes can add their own targets to the same rule without disrupting it. This means one shared filter can serve many characters.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">A Practical Example</h2>



<p>The official example Blizzard provided is a good primer on how top-down ordering works. Say you want to hide all Magic-quality items <em>except</em> ones rolling Willpower:</p>



<ol>
<li><strong>Has Required Affixes &gt; Show &gt; +[X-X] Willpower</strong>&nbsp;(show all gear that has a Willpower affix)</li>



<li><strong>Item Rarity Match &gt; Hide All &gt; Magic</strong>&nbsp;(hide all Magic-quality items, except items that fulfill a Show rule before it)</li>
</ol>



<p>The Show rule sits above the Hide rule, so any Magic item with Willpower still drops visibly while everything else gets filtered out. Flip the order, and the Hide would catch everything first, making the Show rule meaningless.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Toggling On the Fly</h2>



<p>If you want to peek at hidden loot without disabling your filter entirely, you can bind a hotkey under <strong>Options &gt; Controls &gt; Toggle Loot Filter</strong>. This is also the easiest way to verify a new filter is doing what you think it&#8217;s doing. To test, simply toggle off, check the ground, toggle back on.</p>



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Sharing Filters</h2>



<p>One of the most community-friendly aspects of the system is that you can <strong>export filters as a string</strong> to share with friends, or import filters built by other players. Exporting copies the string to your clipboard, and importing is as simple as creating a new filter and pasting in the code.</p>



<p>Expect the community to produce shared filter libraries almost immediately. Build-specific filters for popular Talisman Sets, class-specific Uniques, and general-purpose endgame filters are the obvious candidates.</p>

<p>Loot Filters have been a staple of ARPG design since Path of Exile made them a community cornerstone, and their absence from Diablo IV has been a frequent complaint across the game&#8217;s lifespan. Integrating one natively, with import/export support, a generous 25-rule limit per filter, and direct hooks into new item systems, addresses that gap in a way that is immediately usable at launch.</p>



<p>Lord of Hatred is shaping up to give players significantly more control over both what they&#8217;re building and what they&#8217;re sifting through to build it.</p>
