Diablo 4’s Tower Gets Some Adjustments for Season 12 PTR

Jaym0 Avatar by Jaym0

Blizzard did not make massive Tower changes for the upcoming Diablo 4 Season 12 PTR, but that does not mean nothing happened.

With the Tower still officially in beta and competitive leaderboards now live, Blizzard has started making small, targeted changes to the mode. They are not huge, but they do tell us that the Tower is not locked in yet, and Blizzard is actively adjusting it as patches are released.

Tower Changes for Season 12 PTR

The Tower

  • New monster types can now be encountered in the Tower.
  • New tilesets and art assets have been added for the Tower.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the Mastery Goblin would persist after the progress bar filled.
  • Fixed an issue where there was a chance to spawn into a tower layout where the player could damage monsters without leaving the circle.
  • Fixed an issue where the Sower of Decay Guardian boss could turn invisible if hit by their own skill.

More Variety Inside the Tower

The most important update is the increased variety during Tower runs. Blizzard added:

  • New monster types that can now appear inside the Tower
  • New tilesets and art assets, helping runs feel less repetitive visually

This does not change how the Tower works mechanically, but it does help with one of the mode’s early complaints. A lot of players felt that runs were starting to feel the same after a few tries. More enemies and layouts mean less predictability, especially for players pushing leaderboards.

Important Bug Fixes

Most of the update focuses on bug fixes for the Tower, and these will be important changes. It will help make the leaderboards more fair.

  • Fixed an issue where the Mastery Goblin could persist even after the progress bar was filled
  • Fixes a Tower layout bug that allowed players to damage enemies without leaving the capture circle
  • Fixed a bug where the Sower of Decay Guardian boss could turn invisible if hit by its own ability

In a mode built around timed efficiency and leaderboard competition, exploits such as these can completely invalidate runs. Fixing them early is a very good signal that Blizzard wants Tower scores to actually mean something. This is definitely a step in the right direction for this mode.

On paper, this is a small update. No new mechanics, no reworks, no balance changes. But it is still meaningful.

The Tower is still labeled as beta, and with the leaderboards, it is important that it gets adjusted between bigger seasonal updates. That means also that Blizzard is collecting data, watching player behavior, and refining the mode before committing to bigger changes.

If you were expecting major Tower changes before Season 12, this patch makes it clear that Blizzard is taking a slow, cautious approach. And that might just be the right one for this.

Make sure to keep sending back feedback to Blizzard about the Tower! As mentioned, the mode is still considered in beta, so it is now or never!
