If you have been curious about <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a>&#8216;s Paladin but have not grabbed the Lord of Hatred expansion yet, Blizzard is giving players a chance to try the class for free!



During <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-revealed-warlock-and-surprising-season-12-details/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">today&#8217;s livestream</a>, the developers announced that the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/paladin/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Paladin</a> is getting a short free trial during <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/you-can-play-as-the-butcher-in-diablo-4-season-12/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Season 12</a>!



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Time to Test the Paladin</h2>



From March 11 to March 18 at 10 a.m. PT, everyone will be able to log in and test the Paladin for a limited time. The trial will be available on all platforms, including Battle.net, Xbox, and PlayStation, so pretty much anyone playing Diablo 4 can check it out.

You can create and level a Paladin up to level 25 during the event. You can still test out all the abilities, what they do, etc, even if this means that you will not be able to play through endgame content with it. Basically, it is a small preview of what the class can do before you decide if you want to buy the expansion. Sadly, only the Paladin will be available for testing. <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4s-warlock-class-lets-you-command-hell-itself/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">For Warlock</a>, you will have to wait until April!



Blizzard also confirmed that your progress will carry over. You can continue to play with the same Paladin if you later pre-order the Lord of Hatred expansion.



The trial only lasts one week, so if you have been curious about the Paladin, this will be a very good time to see how the class plays.

Players Can Try the Paladin for Free During Diablo 4 Season 12

Blizzard revealed and shared a lot of interesting details, and multiple quality-of-life improvements coming to Diablo 4 during <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-revealed-warlock-and-surprising-season-12-details/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">today&#8217;s developer update livestream</a>.



One of the most noticeable changes will affect Nightmare Dungeons. According to systems designer Aislyn Hall, Blizzard is removing one of the small frustrations players have complained about for a long time.



Nightmare Dungeon doors will no longer slow players down.



Instead of stopping to click and open them, doors will either already be open or can simply be smashed through while moving. The goal is to keep dungeon runs flowing more smoothly without constant interruptions.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Faster Movement and Loading Across the Game</h2>



Blizzard is also making traversal feel more natural throughout Sanctuary.



Climbing walls, descending ladders, and other traversal actions will now scale with your movement speed. This means faster characters will move through the world more smoothly instead of being slowed down by fixed animation timings.



The Diablo 4 team is also improving loading speeds across the game. According to the developers, we (the players) should notice faster transitions whenever the game loads a new area or activity.



Of course, this is only a small part of all the ongoing improvements to the core gameplay, as Blizzard continues to evolve Diablo 4 through new seasons and upcoming expansions.

Blizzard just ended their latest <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> Developer Update livestream, giving players a closer look at what is coming next for the game.



During the livestream, the developers talked about the Warlock&#8217;s origins as a demonologist linked to the Vizjerei, why they went with those visuals, and more! They also showed off some of the class&#8217;s abilities and overall playstyle. The Diablo 4 Warlock stands &#8220;fully unleashed at the heights of their strength.&#8221; He is not a clean hero, not someone who will throw fireballs from a safe distance and walk away with no scratches. He is a &#8220;dark caster who made a very conscious decision to use demons as tools&#8221;. 



The Warlock emerges from the shadows as someone shaped by the dark legacy of the Vizjerei, haunted by demons, burdened, and feared by pretty much everyone.

If you choose to become a Warlock, you will sit on the fine line between a Hero and something a little more dangerous. Warlocks want to save Sanctuary, but they realised they had to do things no one else wants to do in order to do so.



The devs really tried to portray this not only in the backstory, but also in the Warlock&#8217;s gameplay, in the way they move and fight. Warlock can take a hit and hit back in ways that we have never seen before.

Diablo 4 Revealed Warlock and Surprising Season 12 Details

It is going to be a very busy time for Diablo 4. 



Season 12 is expected to begin on March 10. We are also getting a developer update on March 5 with a closer look at the Warlock class. And then, just a few weeks later, Lord of Hatred launches on April 28.



That is a lot happening in a short window. So naturally, <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1rhl2ze/schedule_prediction_s12_s13loh_s14_dlc4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener nofollow">players are already trying to map out</a> what the rest of the year might look like.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Season 12 Might Be Shorter Than Usual</h2>



If Season 12 starts on March 10 and the expansion arrives on April 28, it would mean the season lasts around 50 days. That is much shorter than the typical Diablo 4 season.



Because of this timing, a lot of players expect Season 12 to feel more like a transition season. Something that bridges into Lord of Hatred instead of standing entirely on its own. 



The PTR also gave the impression that Season 12 might be a bit lighter compared to the very well-received Season 11. However, the developers already mentioned that we have not seen everything yet. To that end, the <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/news/diablo-4-dev-livestream-reveals-warlock-and-next-season/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">March 5 developer update</a> should help clarify how much content Season 12 really brings and how closely it all connects to the expansion systems.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Will Lord of Hatred Start With Season 13?</h2>



This is where most of the speculation is happening.



Lord of Hatred adds a new class, a new map, story progression, and large system changes. Launching something like that in the middle of a season would feel a little strange. Because of that, players expect it to line up with a new seasonal reset instead.



If that is the case, April 28 could be the start of Season 13 as well.



Following Diablo 4&#8217;s usual seasonal rhythm, that would put Season 14 somewhere around late July. And if Blizzard continues the current expansion cadence, a third expansion release could happen sometime in fall 2027.



None of that is confirmed. It is just players looking at dates and past patterns.

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Progression Concerns Before the Expansion</h2>



The timing has also opened up another kind of discussion.



Since we will get major system updates and potential item power increases with Lord of Hatred, not everyone feels eager to go all-in on a Season 12 character. If core systems or gear ceilings change in April, anything farmed in early March might lose value quickly. It also opens up a simple question: why grind the season?



On the other hand, Season 12 could just be seen as a low-pressure chance to test builds and prepare before the expansion resets everything.



There is also a bigger long-term question floating around. Beyond Lord of Hatred, Blizzard has not officially confirmed how many expansions Diablo 4 will receive. Is there a third one already planned? Could it be the final chapter? Or is this just the beginning of a longer roadmap?



Right now, it is all speculation. However, BlizzCon 2026 will happen later this year and could give us a clearer idea of what Blizzard plans next.



Either way, it is an exciting time to be a Diablo 4 player right now, especially since the game does not seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

Diablo 4 Has a Very Busy Spring Ahead

With Season 11 nearing its end, some <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Diablo 4</a> players are looking for one last challenge before the reset. What is a fun build that uses zero Mythic items and zero Ancestral Uniques, but can still farm Torment 4 and push far <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/the-pit-of-the-artificers-guide/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">into the Pit</a>?



The goal is not maximum efficiency, but simply to prove how far solid and fun builds can go without top-tier loot.



One person <a href="https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo4/comments/1rhra59/any_suggestions_for_a_0_mythic_and_0_ancestral/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">asked the question on Reddit</a>, and the responses were surprisingly good and practical!



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Zeal Paladin Is a Big Favorite</h2>



The most upvoted answer was <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/zeal-paladin-leveling-build/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Zeal Paladin</a>. A few players reported clearing Torment 4 comfortably using this build with no specific mythic items:

<li>Non-Ancestral Unique weapon</li>



<li>Temerity as an optional defensive piece</li>
</ul>



One player even pushed Pit 65 within a day on new gear, using a custom Zeal setup with Zenith instead of Arbiter. With basic itemization, they reported Castle perk multipliers reaching 1850x, climbing past 2000x when testing Herald of Zakarum.



The build seems to scale really well, even without premium loot. And that is a perfect build for some last-minute ALT fun during Season 11!



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Other Community Choices</h2>



A few other builds were mentioned as strong, low-investment options:

<li>Concept &#8220;Stagger Boss&#8221; <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/rogue/builds/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Rogue builds</a> &#8211; more experimental, but viable for fun runs against bosses if you want to find out how long you can keep a boss &#8220;asleep&#8221;</li>
</ul>



None of these rely on Mythics to function, and this is exactly what makes them perfect for a short end-of-season project.



<h2 class="wp-block-heading">An Interesting Challenge</h2>



The season is almost over, and many players are fully geared or burned out. A &#8220;no Mythic, no Ancestral&#8221; challenge changes the focus away from loot chasing or <a href="https://www.icy-veins.com/d4/guides/tower-leaderboards/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">leaderboards</a>, and back toward build fundamentals.



It also highlights something important. A lot of players just want to have fun. And you definitely have a lot of possibilities for that in Diablo 4! Once you stop trying to min-max everything, creating a new ALT where you just try to push the highest without having top-tier gear is definitely a really nice challenge. And who knows, maybe you will even discover your next favorite build this way!



With only days left before the reset, this kind of self-imposed challenge might be the most fun way to close things out.
