A very funny bug is currently affecting World Boss fights in Diablo 4, causing players to take PvP damage, and in some cases, be killed by other players or their mercenaries in content that should be purely PvE encounters.
This can be a serious problem if you are in Hardcore, but for other players, it mostly causes a lot of laughs!
Complete Chaos During World Bosses
Normally, World Bosses are PvE-only challenges. However, some players have been getting killed out of nowhere by other players or their mercs during World Boss fights. It seems to happen at random and can affect any type of world tier, including Torment.
This is especially dangerous for Hardcore players, since you could get wiped by a random Subo just firing an arrow in your direction, and that is game over.
So if you are doing World Bosses right now, please be carefull:
- Players and mercenaries can unexpectedly attack each other during World Boss fights. This means you might even get killed by friendly fire from friends in your own party.
- Players in Hardcore mode should be particularly careful, as these deaths could result in permanent loss. You might want to hold off on World Bosses until Blizzard fixes this.
- The bug does not hit everyone, but it can potentially affect any player taking part in a World Boss fight.
Blizzard’s Response
Blizzard is aware of the issue and has confirmed they are working on a fix.
No Hotfix for Getting PK’d at world bosses YET?!
We’ve identified a fix for this issue, and will be correcting it in an upcoming patch
There is no word yet on when the patch will arrive, so it is a good idea to be extra careful if you are planning to tackle any World Bosses.
- Avoid World Bosses on Hardcore characters until the fix is live.
- Disable your Mercenary temporary when fighting World Bosses so they don’t randomly kill other players.
- Report any unexpected PvP deaths wiht the in-game bug report to help Blizzard track the issue.
This bug is mostly generating a lot of laughs in the community, particularly from funny stories of mercs killing their own players, but it remains a serious concern for those risking permanent character loss.
Blizzard is actively working on a patch, so you just have to be a bit patient until they fix the issue!
